Sony PVM-14N2U Issue

I purchased a Sony PVM-14N2U from Ebay and there seems to be color distortion on the upper right side of the monitor. Can this be fixed or will I need to return it.?

 

Don't happen to have a speaker or any magnets next to the TV do you?

 

Try running a few degauss cycles on it (leave it a few minutes between each one) - if it doesn't get any better then I suspect that one of the disc magnets on the back of the tube has fallen off - I would return it.

 

I have not found a way to run a degauss cycle. There does not seem to be an option in the menu. I do not have speakers by it.

 

Does it buzz when you turn it on from cold? If so, try power cycling it a few times with about 15 minutes between the power cycles

 

The manual DEGAUSS button is on the bottom left.
These are for the M series, not sure if it's the same as the N series. But as TriMesh said, just powering it on does the degauss.

 

I think the N series has a much simpler control panel - basically, just input selectors and 4 buttons for the menu.

 

You can get an external degauss coil that, with proper technique, might give you better results than the set's built in function. I'd try that before returning it.
