For those of you who didn't see my post on the eBay thread or the item on Gamesniped, there was a minty boxed copy of Stadium Events for NES on eBay. The seller apparently didn't know what they had, as they listed it as part of a console bundle with no reference to the game in the title, at 99 cents no reserve. The final selling price.... $13,105!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370330327400=&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Kev, I know you saw one of these in a pawn shop a few years back. Please don't kill yourself! ;-)
I believe the initial production run was recalled due to Nintendo subsequently buying the rights to Bandai's 'Family Fun Fitness' games and accessories. The original Bandai games/ accessories then had to be pulled from the shelves, as Nintendo would need to re-release the games as their own. Naturally, the few Bandai copies that slipped through the net are now the rarest of the rare.
That's a crazy price but it'S far from mint if you ask me. Instructions bent and the bottom of the box is slightly damaged. More like very good condition but not mint. Yeah, I'm a fusy bastard but that's what living in Japan does to you when you find stuff classed as junk in the condition that EBay sellers class as mint  Yakumo
Maybe he has a sealed copy and now tries to accumulate all the others in order to burn them at once in his backyard  With naked women dancing around it and singing!! Crazy how many people bid amounts close to 10,000$.
it seems that the videogame collecting is shifting more an more into the more well-heeled peeps region.
It is just that the kids from back in the days now earn good money and spend it on childhood memories. That's all.
I hate liars. Mint is mint. Passing off bent box's and crap is not mint. That's like saying I'm selling you a new car, but I take a rock and dent the side of your door.
Don't you know? A dark prophecy states that when all Stadium Events copies are reunited, the hour will be nigh for... ... uh, something.
Hehe, but I think only retro described it as minty, not the eBay seller. Hehe, complain about retro instead! ^_^
Minty and mint aren't the same thing ;-) Minty really only means that it smells / tastes of mint lol ;-) I personally use the term in an ironic manner, to describe something that's good but not mint (which, to be honest, nothing ever is). In this case, I just meant that it's more complete and reasonably conditioned than most copies that have turned up in the past few years.
About 4 years ago I saw one in a store for $1, and looking at the boring title, passed it over. Came back the next day, it was gone.
Syncing into clown logic... So why isn't the original "Power Pad" creator Bandai Family Fun Fitness set not billed the "Holy Grail", then ??? The Pad and game (Athletic World ) was in limited quantities and only sold in certain parts of the U.S. before Nintendo had them scrap it. Any clowns wanna tackle this ??? Btw, the Bandai Pad looked prettier You know, people like www.NESPLAYER.com said it pretty well: "Stadium Events is the greatest epitome of collector-produced price guides showing proof that one day they will ruin the collecting scene. I can see the high demand for gold/gray NWC carts as owning a piece of history - I mean, even Panesian prices to an extent (I sure made a lucrative trade to eventually get my own copy of Hot Slots) - but when a game such as this, which offers absolutely nothing interesting or new and is widely available through other variations of the same formula. . . Well, damn, you really have to question the ilk going on behind the online scenes driving these prices upward. Rarity-schmararity my ass!"
I've seen the (NA) Stadium Events come up for auction a number of times but never the (NA) Bandai FFF Pad offered. Has anyone else ever seen that up for sale or auction?
