With so little announced; that is the real question.

We can only speculate, but my hope is that it's 2D also.

 

Great news and trailer. I hope they make the game 2D, as we've already seen the 3D versions of SF aren't as good as the 2D ones.

 

Judging from the trailer, and current trends in fighting games, my guess is that it will be 3D and employ some sort of cel shading. I hope it's in 2D too, but unfortunately that usually isn't what makes the bills.

 

Its so good to hear its finally back in development and I believe from what I have heard it will be 2D with HD and something like capcom vs snk effects. I'm really really looking forward to this and I hope it brings back the fighting scene. It really made my day today seeing this.

 

i hope its 2D in HD with handdrawn sprites ala SSF2THDR.

That video is pretty sweet. I liked the art style. Maybe it will be a side scrolling beat 'em up. Now THAT would be sweeeeet!

ofcourse 'we' do. this is probably the biggest announcement for a game in years for some of us - even though expectations are way beyond reason given the state of affairs with regards to this particular genre.

 

I wonder what SNK is going to Counter SF IV with

What can Capcom Possibly do to improve on 3rd Strike?

 

I doubt this game will amount to anything more than enjoyable fan service - not real competition for the pros or people expecting an enhancement on 3rd strike.

SNK is a shell of it's former self. I really dislike what they have become.

 

Yeah I think that's probably why 3rd strike was the last 2d Street fighter
really what can be done to improve on 3rd strike? It had everything and if there was something you didn't like you could tweek it in System direction.

We can probably expect a roster reboot again with only Ken and Ryu back Maybe Gouken will be in it getting all Jinpachi on our ass as a fuck you to EGM.

I didn't like super art selection so that's gotta go too.

But I do want Cammy, Mokoto, and Chun Li back maybe an older Yun and Yang.

You know it's funny monday I was reading some Old EGMs where they were hyping SF III and just the other day on Shoryuken I said "there won't be a Street fighter IV ever" and here we are.

 

high resolution, new animations/more animations, hand-drawn naturally, using 3d instead of sprites and of course nifty effects and lots of unlockables.

all this naturally in 2d

PS: the video is amazing. I hope they can pull of a semi-3d game with those visuals and effects - although not cannon street fighter, it would be a nice experiment!

 

I heard over at SNK-capcom it's going to run on the Type X2 board and BE IN 2D!

 

I must say I am a little excited. I'm hoping its at least semi 2d and not fully 3d. Still the teasers got me going, can't wait to see pics.
