    ls -lisa ;-)

Without other security patches to passwd, it will still work. That message is a warning, not an error, and can usually be ignored.

Ancient RedHat. One of my units has 5.2 Apollo if I remember correctly, kernel 2.0.36.

Find out how vi works and add the following to your .bashrc

    alias startgame='/usr/local/sce/bin/dsreset 2 100'
    alias stopgame='/usr/local/sce/bin/dsreset 0 0'

now you can start games from # by typing startgame

Another tip if you want to avoid vi / unix.
Download and install WinSCP on your windows box, winscp (ssh) to your TOOL (IP will be shown on TV)
Grab the file .bashrc from your homedir and edit it in notepad with the above alias lines and scp it back to the box.

Thanks Silverbull, any help is much appreciated!!! Mine runs Redhat 6.2, and was hoping to make an image of one of the drives, and find all the Sony RPM's and add them to Redhat 7.2 and add it to my TOOL!!!

Thanks for that I'll give that try when I put my TOOL back together!! I'll probably just change the file while the drives are out of it though!!!

    Update on PS2 TOOL!!!

So I finally got into my TOOL:pray:, but I can't start dsedb, the system says that there is no such file or directory??

I'm beginning to think that the guy I got it from mucked around with the HDD before he sent it to me, :dammit: as I can't get into the Network settings either, (I've been using this guide http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13397), it just says the same thing??

When it loads it tells me that there's no "mrp" (as per the photo below)!!

    I'm stumped!! :banghead:

Edit:- I've got ARM 2.11a and ARM2.50, can i change the configuration of it with these???

    A development!!

Thanks Unclejun. I still don't really understand!! I've had it in pieces and checked all the pci slots, but nothing looked damaged!!! I re-seated the main processor card properly because I pulled it out to have a look at it!!

In a strange co-incidence, I wondered what would happen if I flicked all the dip switches on the back to the other settings, and low and behold it loaded my internet!!

I'm still getting a "permission denied" when I try and access the desktop??? Does it even have one??

I've been into lynx to have a look, and I still can't get games to play through the PS2 side!!

I've tryed "dsedb", but all I get is "no such file or directory" still!! I've tryed:- "alias startgame='/usr/local/sce/bin/dsreset 2 100'", "alias stopgame='/usr/local/sce/bin/dsreset 0 0'", but that didn't work either!!

So then i thought that the guy I got it off might have done that already, so I tryed "startgame", but............. same thing!!

I'm beginning to think that maybe there's another problem with it, cause the tool light doesn't work?? Or there's no Sony files on it!!

If you are still getting the /dev/mrp0 error then the PS2 and linux parts of the dev kit are not communicating. The dsedb and dsreset commands will not work until that problem is resolved.

I received a TOOL that got damaged in shipping and it exhibited the same behavior. Try rechecking everything but if you can't get rid of the mrp0 error you aren't going to get much further.

I've just opened it up for you and on the main board at the back, all the L.E.D's light up, except the PIC and RESET!! They are all yellowy green!!

I was trying to jokingly point out that you always put two exclamation marks at the end of a sentence, which makes reading your posts unintentionally funny.
