I am currently looking for more Super Mario 64 beta footage (wish I could get the Nintendo 64 1995 B-Roll tapes), but I did post a 14 minute video dedicated to all the footage we currently have. Such as ones from: GameZero, GameOne, Bad Influence, GamesMaster, Circa, ect. I also included mostly all the screenshots of the beta that were from magazines as well. If anyone knows about the B-Roll tapes, please contact me. I am willing to pay for any of them if anyone has one that consists of beta Super Mario 64 footage. - AwesomelukeyProject
that was excellent.. I had only the bad influence section (as have every episode of bad influence... PM me if you have all the games masters.. I would like to get them) So it was really nice to see other sections of Mario 64. I do prefer the final result more than the beta thank goodness, it was much like what 12 tales of conker was going to be before it went bad fur day lol However I remember I preferred the bottom screen layout of Metroid prime hunters of the demo to the final version.. who knew!? thanks for the upload PS I too would like to see beta stuff of Zelda; I have a picture from an old N64 mag and about 2 seconds of footage from the old VHS tape N64mag here in the UK ha ha
Ah, thanks. Yeah, I could probably do a Zelda 64 compilation sometime. I believe I saw a little clip of it in this French documentary. You can get all the GamesMaster footage at: https://www.youtube.com/user/DynamiteHeaddy
Nice little video. Interesting to see anything Nintendo in beta stages, so much was changed that poor Power metre it hardly got left alone
Awesome video! There has been some footage I didn't know yet! For me, SM64 as beta is something like the holy grail :biggrin-new:
Agreed! Prerelease builds of a few different N64 games top my "most desired" list: Zelda 64, Mario 64, and odd as it sounds, Quest 64.
Great compilation video. I look forward to any more SM64 videos you got. As for B-Roll tapes, there's a E3 1996 B-roll on YouTube. I know you want 1995, but you might want to read the embedded info if you haven't already. Based on that photobucket image, its a beta tape and judging from the production date on it (May 1996) it predates SM64's Japanese release by one month. Should this particular prototype surface online (someday in the near future I hope) we might discover more beta material in it.
Yeah, I have seen this. It's definitely interesting to seeing the pre-release title screen, but I am going to need the "1995 B-Roll" the most. Just wonder how many things were in the Super Mario 64 1995 demo.
Looks great, hopefully you can acquire the footage you need to finish the hack. Unfortunately I'm not much use when it comes to uncovering lost video archives.
Apparently this youtube user claims he has a 64dd version of mario 64 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeN34VYArrM Honestly I call fake based on april 1 date, but hes claiming its real and no one is questioning him, also he does have a lot of betas from his collection he shows on his other videos (has a beta copy of castlevania 64 that while he shows the cart wont actually show any footage of it running).
Nice looking mod. Recreating the power metre might be difficult since so many were made during the beta
This specific person you sent me to by the link, is definitely without a doubt a "liar". I've been in contact with him for nearly two years, and almost everything he brags about turns out as a lie, and he changes the subject instantly when he's caught as well. (Sometimes he even goes offline) Besides, all this video really is anyway is Super Mario 64 running on a normal Nintendo 64 with the 64DD attached and no DD disc. There's absolutely nothing different besides long loading times.
Nearly everything on his channel is fake. JSRF "SpaceWorld" lol, no. Castlevania prototype that was sold publicly had no gameplay differences, wouldnt be surprised if it was the same one.
Thank you, and don't worry, the power meter will be extremely easy to re create. The first alpha's power meter says "power" with a similar health meter to the final. The second alpha is pretty much identical, except it says "POW". The beta power meter is the wackiest out of them all that has a countdown from eight to zero.
I will admit though, even though he lies half of the time, he still is a very nice guy. Besides his completely terrible lies, he is still a really generous kid to talk with.
Just for proof, since I don't like to leave people hanging. The so-called "Space World 2001" disk. Except its not, and is just a standard Japanese demo disk. It even says 2002 right in it
