I have to say, that it would be a good idea to have some kind of reinstatement process for extreme cases, even if that's merely pleading to ASSEMbler for mercy! Suppose one of us had a pretty bad motorcycle/car shunt & ended up in hospital for a couple of months? Keeping fresh on the board probably wouldn't be the highest of priorities in that case. Other than that kind of thing, I agree that most of the regulars wouldn't likely be affected by this.
Sounds good to me, I never actually login but rather let the cookie handle it so I'd definately be ticked if it happened accidently.
Watermarks are crap for everything else than images, and it would be too much work anyway. I don't have any problems with having to log in at least once every 30 days. I agree that it might not stop leakage, but on the other hand, I don't see the actual problem anyway. The first any *only* "0th Bit" release so far was leaked by some idiot a few days earlier than it was to be officially released. It's known who did it, and it should be enough to withdraw his access rights to this forum. I think it was only bad because donators were to enjoy the game first. If no money would have been required for the release, I guess no one would have cared about the early leak at all. Anyway, by adding individual watermarks, you would accuse everyone of being a suspected leaker. I don't think that would do any good to the community.
It sounds like a good idea to me. I'm not a regular poster, mainly because i'm not as knowledgable as most people on here and i don't see the point in polluting threads with useless info, but i have been visiting this site at least three times a week for the last year or so. It really shouldn't cause anyone a problem as i'm sure anyone who is an active community member will log in at least once a month.
the ASSEMblergames msg board is one of my homepages (I have about 6 or 7 that load up with Firefox) so I should be ok! xD altough last time my cookie expired and I didnt noticed I was logged out and eventually lost my old account
The membership here is already to lenient. If you cant bother to log in once a month, really, you arent one of the regulars. Im surprised that all he added was a 30 day limit thing.
I got caught out by this, by accident, so it can happen >_< In my defense I'm trying to buy a house at the moment, but still thanks to Kev for helping out. I suspect only those who didn't know about the policy change will get this much leniance, though! Stone
I can see the reasons behind defining the rule and can live with it. Even though the chance exists that I end up not visiting the forum at all for a while just to come back sometime in the future. I tend to switch interests often.
Rules like that are always a two side knive...imo at least! You know, not anyone has the chance to ever log in in 30 days, but perhaps they could msg Kev about it and have it settled privately..
Just ensure that if you are ever kidnapped by extremists that you get someone back home to log-in for you I can see it now. A placard reading "Please ffs, someone log into my AG account! Oh...and US President please negotiate my release!" The comforting thing with this rule is that if you live alone and die, it'll only take roughly 30 days for AG members to notice. "Hey Kev, Barc0de would NEVER let his account expire mate!" ;-)
