Never played Sega GT for dreamcast, but I played it for Xbox and thought it was ok, could have been better.

Did anyone else find GT3 Aspec annoying? It always seemed like there was like a .5 sec delay in the steering that I just found so annoying to the point that I never even tried really playing that game.

Forza Motorsport 4 Debut Trailer is this the trailer your talking about?

PD should seriously consider that whole outsourcing of models thing:

And then there's stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr-mhjxW-D4 Even with all the clearly unfinished stuff in the game, I still can't wait to play it though.

The Xbox one was a completely different game. The DC one was pretty crappy, some of the factory cars you had to drive had atrocious handling. At least those parts where you got to make your own car were kinda fun, I guess.

Well, GT was a first. And with all firsts, it created a genre (in consoles of course). Ever since the first one PD calls it "The Real Driving Simulator". It's just a slogan, just like "The Drive of your life" in GT4. They never went public and said "We are the best, the competition sucks..."

What keeps most people away from Forza is Dan Greenwalt's attitude and lack of respect to it's competitors. He can say whatever he wants about Gran Turismo, Sega GT, Enthusia,... but he owns those games his job. Still he has this ego that's incredible annoying. Just wait for E3 2011 to see it again.

Turn10 was created by Microsoft to make a "Gran Turismo for Xbox". And thankfully they created a great game, with new features that not even GT5 has yet.

Basicly we have 2 different approaches of development. On Turn10, their outsorce some areas to make the whole development process faster. Plus Forza 3 used the same engine as Forza 2, not to mention some cars as well. This allow then to add new features and release new games. It's better for the consumer and more profitable.

On PD, they have about 140 people, and only half of those are programmers or 3d modelers. That means a long development process, specially developing a whole new engine (still flawed i might add). This means wait longer for a new game, until Kazunori is satisfied with it.

Most of the bugs and glitchs in GT5 are stupid and could have been fixed in a month. Still, they took 6 years to develop and released it with all those issues. Plus they got rid of the best parts from GT5P like Performance Points and Quick Tune.

In my opinion, PD has to at least double their personnel or outsorce some areas like track 3d models. Also they have to wake up and make changes on game design. Gran Turismo is an easy seller, but Gran Turismo 5 should teach PD a lesson. Unfortunately i don't think they know what lesson is that.

Anyway, i can't wait to see what Forza 4 has to offer to keep Kazunori and PD working their asses.

PS: As for that car picture from GT5, it's one of the handfull horrible standard cars (that should been deleted or re-textured). Check this topic from GTplanet.net to see that most of the standards look great:

I doubt it. Most people who play video games probably don't even know who the hell he is, and anyway, how does that affect the game itself?

I always thought PD's approach to development was "have as much detail and as many features as possible", and compared to GT, Forza is pretty light on variety and features, but then again, that approach does lead to long development times with such a small team as we've seen...

IMO, Forza 3 didn't feel different enough from 2 and it tried too hard to appeal to casual players, especially by making all the cars drivable in multiplayer even if you didn't have the money to buy them: it really removed the satisfaction of having to earn the cars. They also screwed up the multiplayer by making it matchmaking only and limiting your options: you can only have a race with collisions and visual damage, and can't even choose the track or amount of laps. This is frustrating because Forza 2 actually had better multiplayer. On the plus side, I really like the rewind function.

I checked it out and not too impressed, many of the cars have horribly blurry and jaggy textures that look like they belong in a PS2 game.

I think it actually is. I'll check as soon as I get my Playstation 3 back . . . which will be in another 10 ~ 14 days :banghead: I've heard there are a couple of cars that are really bad in GT5.

I would like to see a video of that car instead of just an image . . .

I have no idea who the guy behind Forza is so him being a bit of a prick doesn't bother me  what would bother me if I was a PS3 owner are the amount of lazy unacceptable bugs, poor art, and lack of features in a game that took waaaaayyyyy too long to develop and hyped to be the ultimate racer.

GT5 did take way too long to publish. GT5 was the whole reason I wanted to get a Playstation 3, though now that I have one, I really like for other games as well.

I remember when it was suppose to be released in March, I was so excited, only had my PS3 for 3 months just to find out it was delayed.

I just hope we don't have to wait 4 years for GT6 to be published . . .

From what I've heard there's a fair bit of art asset reuse from GT PSP. Sloppy work either way.

Not just a lack of features but half-assed ones at that. Some of the choices they made make no sense to me.

I fully, 100% expected GT5 to make full use of the PS3's capabilities as they had done with GT2 and GT4 for their respective consoles. That is not only sloppy but a damn joke. It looks like someone put a GT2 car model onto GT4's background.

    Yick.

The lovely thing is they can always update it. Which means they/we had two choices:

Game that comes out on some date, and has some issues and shortcomings that will be addressed later.

Game that comes out significantly later than that date and is "perfect", yet will still piss everyone off regardless.

Exactly. The game took to long to be released. They should have learned from GT4 and hired a bigger staff and / or outsource some areas. Taking that long to release a product isn't good business. And even after all that time, it still has stupid bugs / glitchs. Stuff like a 54' Corvette having a text description of a Silverado pickup truck and an Audi R8 V10 having the V8 engine just shows how the attention to details wasn't a priority this time. Plus they got rid of the best GT5P features like Performance Points and Quick Tune (with 3 save spots). Why would you remove a good feature of a game?!

IMO, all problems with GT5 are basicly a terrible development schedule, lost of focus and some bad design choices. Believe it or not, IGN hit right on the spot when they said "Gran Turismo 5 is a 10/10 simulator wrapped up in a 5/10 game". The driving part is great as always, but the gaming aspect lacks quality, which is a shame.
