Thats very true and like other have said they can send out patches and what not, but too many details were missed or over looked. I'll still play the game because its one of the best driving games in turns of feeling real when you are driving. Thankfully they didn't mess that up. I do have a feeling they are going to be changing quiet a few things with Gran Turismo 6 and I sincerely hope we are not waiting what 4 ~ 5 years before it comes out? I haven't heard any rumors about the Playstation 4 but then again I haven't looked either, but I hope we get at least one more Gran Turismo for the PS3 . . . -Disjaukifa
I agree but only because its the only game of its kind for the Playstation 3. If Forza was out on the PS3, I think GT5 would be a flop, however since there really isn't anything else like GT5 for the PS3, and no I'm not counting NFS: Shift, people will buy it and play around the little problems and ignore small details that were missed. -Disjaukifa
From what i gather reading comments online and watching videos is that it is a good game except it's not perfect with bugs, things missing or things not being implemented as well as they could be. I am annoyed about there being standard then premium car as i think all of the cars in the game should look as good as possible plus from what i understand simulation damage is unlocked at level 40 which is a bit crap because it should be there from the start. Also i wanted to drive around the top gear track in at least one if not all of the reasonably priced cars to see what time i could get and if it compares to real life but i can't. I was looking forward to this game so i could finally have a reason to get a PS3 and not just be stuck with my 360 and Forza 2/3 but not sure now unless patches make it worth getting along with a ps3 anytime soon.
Yeah, because it's still a great title. Maybe I'm just callused for shortcomings in games. I think of all the people that worked long hours on a game, putting a section of their life into it, when I play games. I think it's an injustice to the human beings behind any form of art to dismiss and tear down so easily as a consumer.
Agreed, I haven't played that much of GT5 but from what I did play I really enjoyed. I know people are upset about the premium versus standard cars but honestly I've been playing Gran Turismo with the bumper cam ever since Gran Turismo 1, and thats the camera angle I'm use to. I do wish they had a hood camera, meaning there would be a camera right on the outside of the windshield, I like that view as well from the Dirt series of games. I actually don't like the cockpit view because of the steering wheel and simulated hands and arms. If they weren't there or if you had an option to turn them off, it would be perfect if you had a steering wheel setup. Ehhh maybe its just me . . . -Disjaukifa
Here we go again... see, what you just said neatly shows how that aspect of the "games as art" argument falls apart. Art is not a mass-produced consumer product with a list of practical features. GT5 is, and when it falls short on these features, it can be objectively critiqued. The vast majority of games have little or no artistic merit. They're just entertainment.
