You know, for some people, a computer is just an object - an object that doesn't need to be tarted up boy-racer style. Personally I don't care how long your flashing LED case fans and ultraviolet-lit water cooling rig took to install, it still looks like shit to me, just absolutely cringeworthy. Apparently that would mean I don't know what I'm talking about? What the fuck? You're trying to equate your hobby and personal sense of aesthetics with intellect or knowledge, and you're smart enough to know better.

In my view, the poster in question seems to think the mods done to those PC's have no affect on performance, and the way he was talking about it, to me he seems to think all PC's are created equal regardless of weather or not they are modded in such ways... again false.

If I misinterpreted Jamtex's meaning, I'm sure he's able enough to correct my view in which I would apologize. But, there's no need to get all irate over something so small. I didn't mean to offend anyone, and I'm sorry that I upset you in some way or another. It was never my intent. I admit I probably could have, and should have worded my post better... but I can't change that. Next time, I will try to be more conscientious when I post. Again, I apologize for any offense caused to you, Jamtex, and anyone else.

Hackintosh all the way, all the benefits of OSX with the cheapness of PC's.

I'm currently on a perfect running Aus K60IN laptop, running 10.6.2, good performance, full osx compatibility and good price!

I've been using a unibody Macbook for the past 10 months, and I just sold it yesterday.

The design of the system is simply beautiful. There is no other way to put it. It was fun to use the minute I turned it on, and everything "just worked" right out of the box (it damn well better). Any PC I've bought/built hasn't looked as pretty but usually tends to work fine.

After using OSX for a few months as my primary computer, though, I started to miss using Windows. OSX is a nice operating system and it's very stable 95% of the time, although far from perfect. I had maybe two kernel panics in the time I had mine. I kept finding myself wanting to do something or use a program that only existed in Windows, though, and that eventually got me to the point where I missed having a desktop.

I'm also pretty broke, so as the most valuable thing I owned, I started to look at the Macbook with dollar signs on the brain. I'm "building" a new desktop (cannibalizing a computer someone gave me for parts) with some of the money I got and paying off next months rent with the rest.

To me, neither system is "superior" in any way; it really all depends on what you want out of a computer. I can understand some of the Apple hate, as their computers can be a pain to work on. I had the first model of the unibody Macbook, so replacing the hard drive or pulling the battery is a matter of flipping a latch. The newer ones require taking off the entire back panel....

OSX is a great OS and is perfect for morons who can't refrain from clicking on every facebook link posted on their wall. I grew tired of the interface, though, and I also wanted to play a few games, so back to Windows I went.

Hackintoshs are neat projects, but after my experience with OSX on the Aspire One I decided to leave it well enough alone and just stick to Linux for my non-Microsoft fix.

Those Lian Li cases are very nice and built like a rock, but they tend to be really fucking expensive (there is a computer in my office with a $300 Lian Li case... too rich for my blood). I just went with an Antec mini-P180 and called it a day.

This is all coming from a guy who is pretty tired of dealing with computers. I just want something cheap, reliable, and easy to fix should the need arise. Berating someone for owning a Mac is obnoxious and ignorant, though, IMO (not claiming anyone here is doing that, but I've certainly met people who have). To me, Mac vs. PC is like waffles vs. pancakes. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.

There's one reason to make a hackintosh. To annoy mac owners - that's it.
