Sales seem to indecate otherwise (more PCs than macs) But Just about Everyone I know Either has or wants a Mac. Not me I don't care much for Macs. But like, Why would anyone espcailly a gamer like me even want a Mac in the first place? And inspite of sales figures being higher for PCs...how exactly are these mac users sprouting up... it's like some Conspiracy... Lets not forget to take into account a Mac is like $600 more than a good PC. What I'm saying is, I don't get Mac users. If I want to get away from Windows I'll use Linux.
it's simple. Mac fans who either want a mac or have a mac, talk about having a mac. Windows users don't talk about it, it's not a thing of pride for alot of people. They have a computer. It has windows. That's it really. I'm a windows user, my brother is, my dad is, my sister is, my other sister is, my other sister is, my girlfriend is, my friend mike is, I can go on and on and list all my windows user friends. None of them (except 1) was liek WINDOWS 7! and that's only because he got it for free. Though to be fair, my mac friends (such as Graciano1337) don't talk about Macs too. But that's what it mostly is, Mac users tend to be more vocal about their computer.
Uh, I guess a lot of Mac users who have been loyal for a really long time like I have (even though we had DOS/Windows in my house growing up until I finally made them get Macs a few years ago) tend to still have that "we're the underdog!" ideology. Not that Macs back then were *that* much more stable than Windoze, but they were certainly cuter and snappier! These days though, OS X blows me away. I still use Windows XP for some things like Soulseek or certain dev or emulation software (oh, and to burn Sega games) but for the vast majority of my gaming, programming, design, and entertainment needs, OS X on my MacBook Pro is amazing. I love the UNIX underpinnings and how stable and fast it is. Everything is just so well integrated. When it comes down to it, it's just a matter of opinion. Like what you like, but I prefer the Mac.
What baffles me is Windows users that are baffled by Mac users who then feel the need to make baffling posts on internet forums about it....:katamari:
Most Mac users I know are just tech tarts. They want to have the latest trendy shit. One guy was trying to sell off how great his Mac lap top was yet 90% of the time he's running virtual Windows XP on the thing! Why oh why???? If he thinks his Mac is so great then when not use it as a Mac. It really is sad. Macs are great for many things but I can't help thinking that most people buy them as a fashion statement just like the i-pod. There are far more better sounding MP3 players on the market. The i-phone on the other hand is a wonderful bit of kit. There are many phones out there to take it on but none can beat it. I don't have an i-phone by the way, or an i-pop or a Mac. May get an i-phone some time in the future if nothing better comes out in the next few months. Just a bit pissed about the lack of SD card slot. Yakumo
Yeah, it's dumb to buy a computer just because it's trendy. I have to say though, the new Apple laptops are freaking beautiful and the sturdiest, sleekest things that I've ever seen. They're just so nice. Definitely marked up though. iPhones are great but I hate how Apple controls the App Store. I should be allowed to just download and install an application if I want to. If I have the knowledge to do it manually then I should know how to keep malware off my phone. Not to mention a lot of the apps are really badly written... or just not complete or rushed. I really do love OSX, though. If I just wanted to run Windows or Linux or something else, I'd get a PC. But OSX is my power-user playground. It's so automated and easy to work with that i find everything gets done more quickly. I wish Windows had something like Spotlight where you could type the first 1-3 letters of the app you want to launch, hit enter, and have it open instantly. And being able to hit a corner of the screen and instantly get a thumbnail of every open window is something Mac users have been enjoying (or scratching their heads at) for years. And everything is so streamlined. If you delete a file, any open programs that have a file browser instantly show the updated folder contents, things like that. It's all connected.
I have used basically nothing but Macs my ENTIRE life. It's just like a regular computer to me. I was using Apple computers long before the iMac/iPod craze.
I don't like that, considering how well they are constructed, I hear nothing but hardware failure and construction/design faults. I don't think I know more than 20% of my friends that own one that haven't had some sort of repair work done or have some semi-superficial problem occuring.
The internal monologue continues a pace I see. Now, what do I want on my toast, peanut butter or jam? Discuss...
Because the MacPro is generally a great value? It needs a refresh right now, but saving 200$ and buying a Dell or HP doesnt sound all that appealing to me. The only thing cheaper is building, but then no OSX, and more importantly, no warranty
Croissant, bagel or bread mate? I say Strawberry jam and baguette, lightly warmed so the creamy butter oozes through it. Nice.
Anything really, apfelstrudel included, let's not forget we're in a baffling thread about Mac users...
Do we really need yet another thread on this? The "Mac vs PC" one is still going, why not post this there?
I wouldn't call the case of the Mac User baffling. A Mac fanboy (or even a Windows or Linux fanboy) is no different to a car fanatic that constantly says how Fords or Toyotas or GMs are the best cars of all time and you should buy them over all others. It's all really down to what you like and what you can afford. OK, let's be honest. I own a Mac. I got it as the university degree about 5 years ago. The faculty's computers were all Macs, and so I thought it was a wise decision. Previous to that I had had long experience of Microsoft OS use, back to the early 90s when your computer still booted up to a black screen with a MS-DOS 5.0 command prompt. Now, out of my PCs - My Windows XP/Ubuntu dual boot, My Windows Vista laptop and my Mac laptop, I most enjoy using my Mac. It's just personal preference. I dislike the clunkiness and sudden slowdowns of Windows Vista, I enjoy not having to constantly maintain it like I do with Windows XP, and I don't feel the need to meddle with the settings every time I start it up (like with Ubuntu). I also like the way that, comparatively, my Mac is quieter than all of my other machines and the fact that MacOS is designed to work purely with certain system setups makes it far more stable than the other OSes. I don't know whether it's just corporate brainwashing or not, but the fact that all of my Windows and Linux machines have broken one time or another whilst my Mac has always been dependable has made me a happy user. ...although I do have dislikes. The lack of support for pre-Intel machines, the fact I can't run Visual Studio on it, the slowly dying battery and the fact that the power cable is falling apart due to a poor choice of materials are all thorns in my side. The fact that it's about as fast as it was when I first got it is a bit annoying too, as it leaves me in two minds whether to replace it or not (and shiny electronics are always tempting, no matter what it is! ). To be honest: if I was buying a computer today, I would seriously have to think long and hard between a Windows PC or a Mac. If I bought a Windows machine, I'd probably build one again because it's cheap or end up buying a big-box-brand which I know is only 50% name-brand components, and maybe that's the issue - when it all comes down to it, you pay a premium to have named components and pre-built goods like any other electronic item. On a side note: I think that people do get confused by those 'Mac vs. PC' adverts; I always saw them as the choice between a generic machine or a Mac (like you have washing powder adverts that say 'own brand vs. new Biz') rather than trying to say that Macs aren't PCs. Like a PC is a big-box term whilst a Mac is like an Alienware or an XPS. Maybe that's just me...
We Don't 1. I posted this in Gaming by mistake 2. If I was aware it existed I wouldn't have made this. If a Mod wants to move this merge this with another thread feel free to. That said. My Cousin Wants a Man, My Other cousin every time I complained about Vista said Get a Mac, My Friend matthew after His HP died got a Mac (to which I cried Hearsay) Really WHAT advantage does a Mac have. What can I do on a Mac I can't do in Windows 7?
