Hey guys. Which games from this generation (Wii, 360, PS3) have you enjoyed or played the most? Are there any you were disappointed with that you were really looking forwards to? 360 wise, Borderlands was super addictive for me, despite me initially not warming to it. DiRT2 is my favourite driving game ever- the presentation is so slick, and the soundtrack is fantastic- I've bought three albums from bands in the soundtrack. Gears of War 1 and 2, I played through and completed with my sister co-op.. liked them lots.. picked them up again recently and can really admire them for their style and fun factor in co op. Can barely put them down right now. And Viva Pinata was fantastic, too (all achievments besides the 50h one), me and my sister had great fun with that! Halo 3 was average; was looking forwards to really getting into it. Bioshock hasn't lived up to my expectations and remains half played. Viva Pinata:TiP really didn't capture us like the first did. Wii-wise.. Wiiware has saved it for me. World of Goo represents everything good about downloadable games. The Bit Trip series have been must-purchases for me (retro style, chip tune.. im sold). A Boy and His Blob is an overlooked gem.. and Mario Galaxy goes without saying. Mario Kart Wii I think is dreadful; the fun for us was multiplayer grand prix. MK64 has the best battle stages, too. What do you guys think?
Only from a console setup PS3: Yakuza 3 (my most played game this gen so far). It'd be unfair for me to pick on 360/wii as I haven't played on one in over a year.
I haven't played on a 360 / Wii for a long time as well. From the PS3 games i have, i must say MotorStorm Pacific Rift is TONS of fun. It's addicting to the point i'm looking to get the first one. I played GT5: Prologue lots of times before, but it still looks and "drives" great. I wonder what GT5 will end like (when Kaz finally decides it's finished). Uncharted is very impressive, both on graphics and gameplay, especially if you remember it's a 2007 game. Killzone 2 impressed me as well, but i'm suspect to say anything about it, because i always liked the series artistic style. Wipeout HD Fury is the most amazing game i have. This thing running on 1080 is incredible. Ratchet & Clank has great graphics but it's basicly the same as the PS2 games.
I played Modern Warfare 2 quite a bit but from a graphics standpoint the better games would be Uncharted 2, God of War 3, and Final Fantasy XIII.
Borderlands: played this co-op with friends until we 100% it and got all achievements including all expantions Halo 3, the reason for me to get a 360 as Halo 2 was the reason for me to get Xbox Live and Halo was the reason for me to get a Xbox Forza 2/3: My fav racing series, just a little bit more arcade like then the Gran Turismo series which makes it a little milder to play, great career mode and excelent online multiplayer.
So many games, so little mind.. Wii: Super Mario Galaxy Super Mario Bros Wii No More Heroes 1 & 2 PS3: Wipeout HD Flower Uncharted 1&2 Motorstorm Pacific Rift (amazing game) 3D dot game heroes!! Mind you, I LOVE the old arcade remakes like GT club and Outrun etc - not the most mindblowing stuff but certainly a draw for the arcader XBOX 360: many games but i havent got all the ones i want just yet. I havent played my xbox 360 in a while.
The PS360 hasn't really offered any exciting new experiences (and I say PS360 because there's little difference between the two). Some of the games are good, but it's all familiar territory. The games are getting even shorter and shorter. Not always a bad thing, but sixty <insert coin> for a five hour game?
Pulsar_t, I used to think the same thing. I sold my Cube,Ps2 and Xbox, and didnt play games for about two years because I felt they were all the same. My first proper play of a 360 was about a year ago and I was blown away. I think the vacation from gaming made me appreciate it more. There is a lot less originality now, but I think it is starting to seep back in in many ways. Also, I never buy a game at full whack. Looking at my 360 collection, they are all second hand, with the two most expensive being £18 and £16.
XBOX enjoyed or played the most Gears 1 Halo 3 MW2 assassins creed 2 disappointed with that you were really looking forwards to Gears 2 fable 2 every current gen sonic game
Why were you disappointed with Fable 2 and GoW2, Tyler? The Sonic games.. I don't need an explanation for those =)
So far, none of them had enough interesting titles to make me buy one - Most titles I care about (Mirror's Edge, GTA IV, Mass Effect, Bioshock) have PC versions available. I've played through Braid on my brother's 360 (that's back when there was no word on a PC version), but that's about it it. Buying my own 360 just for Braid just wasn't worth it (maybe when Fez comes out... Console's gotten a lot cheaper since then). I'm gonna buy a Wii once it's got its own Zelda title (a proper one, not one with retrofitted controls), or maybe bundled with SMG2... PS3-wise, only Wipeout appeals to me. Till then, I still have a huge backlog of SNES, PS1, N64 and GC titles to finish... also, haven't even started on the PS2...
GTA IV, definitely. I haven't played much on this generation, but from what I've seen over at friends and on the net, there are some nice games among the hyped ones. Project Gotham Racing 4, DiRT, Condemned 2, New Super Mario Bros Wii, quite good stuff. Other soft like Heavy Rain, Modern Warfare 2 (not 1) or Gears of War 2 that I actually played were utter boredom from my point of view. Well, GoW2 not entirely, but it felt like I'd seen it all after being 10min into the game, then it was just a graphics demo. GTA IV felt so incredibly interactive, as if the entire city was aspiring and living without requiring the actual player at all. So unique, so intense, so impressive.
360 hands down. It's got more arcade style gaming than the other two plus is home to most of the better multiple Platform ports. To me the 360 is like a Dreamcast II
Anybody getting alan wake? That game makes me wish I had a 360 right now (will probably still hold out for a PC port or till 360 slim). Boooooo Xbox1 deserves that title. =(
Nah, Xbox 1 was the bastard child of Sega and Micfosoft. Ugly and too American to truly be the DC 2. The 360 has the looks as well as the games. 5 years ago I never would have thought I'd be really enjoying a Micfosoft console but here I am loving every minute of it Oh yes, Alan Wake had been on my wants list for a very long time .
