Simple question really, what were the Xbox's best titles? This includes multi-platform titles that were better on the Xbox (which seems to be a few of them, looking at Metacritic). I know there were a few Xbox-exclusive titles like Conker: Live and Reloaded and Jade Empire but are there any others? *EDIT* Just to specify, for multiplatform games, I'm after titles that were superior on the Xbox. In many cases, a number of Xbox games were also released on PC (Fable, Knights of the Old Republic, Halo etc) which usually ran better, had more features and run at a higher resolution. These are not the games I would be playing on Xbox, I'd be playing the PC version
Halo Halo 2 Halo 2 Killtrocity Volume 1 & 2 JSRF Panzer Dragoon Orta Shenmue II MGS2 Silent Hill 2 & 4 Mechassault 1 & 2
Rallisport Challenge 2 Midtown Madness 3 MVP Baseball 2005 (Has HD support, and was fun for a baseball game) Beyond Good and Evil Burnout 3 Timesplitters Future Perfect Riddick Morrowind Metal Arms Stranger's Wrath Outrun 2 Return to Castle Wolfenstein Ghost Recon 2 Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection KoF Neowave Metal Slug 3 Metal Slug 4/5 GGX2 #Reload SvC Chaos Kung Fu Chaos DoA3 DoA Ultimate Xyanide Hulk Ultimate Destruction Matrix Path of Neo Fight Night Round 3 Def Jam Fight for NY Legacy Of Kain Defiance HoTD 3 Artic Thunder Burnout Revenge Doom 3 Outrun 2006 C2C XGRA There's penty more worth playing.
Double S.T.E.A.L Second Clash - really if you haven't played this game, play it if you love driving/adventure games. Wreckless Rallisport Challenge Rallisport Challenge 2 Dead or Alive: Ultimate Dead or Alive 3 Juiced Crazy Taxi 3 Burnout 3 R: Racing Evolution MASHED Tomb Raider: Legend
Thanks for your suggestions guys, but I guess I should have specified that I was after titles that were better on the Xbox. A lot of the titles you guys listed had superior PC ports
Anyone played Fable on both PC and Xbox? My little finger tells me its probably better on Xbox. It's basically a console game.
I played both and preferred it on Xbox. PC version obviously had the better framerate and faster loading times though. Honestly, it just depends on what you prefer - Console/Controller or PC/Keyboard and mouse.
Those too, but there was also a few games that where available on both Xbox, GameCube and PS2, but ran better on Xbox. These are the games I'm talking about
Easy: just look for the titles which came out on all 3 consoles and you know which ones you'd need. Mind you, this doesn't garantee them being good games at all But I'll speak for Hexigon if I say Wreckless, haha. My (short) list of either very good or eye-candy games: platformer: The Hobbit / Voodoo Vince fighting: Kakuto Chojin / DoA 2 racing: Racing Evoluzione / Wreckless / Outrun 2 / Lamborghini (if ever) / RalliSport Challenge 2 shooter: Black / Riddick / Far Cry / Shelshock Nam '67 / Orta horror: Cold Fear / Obscure / The Suffering other: Gladiator / Stubbs the Zombie / The Warriors / Phantom Dust (for the mood it sets, I don't like the gameplay)
Also, i recently got one of these: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/290367353967?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Its not perfect but well worth the price imo. I tried it with Halo 2 and its definitely a better option than a controller for me. I will need to see if it works as well with the mechassault games. I really want to play these but hate the controller for this type of games. ( I grew up with a PC )
Usually yes. I played all Playstation 2 ones first since that was the console I owned of that generation (I had the gamecube early... anyway). I'm starting to own the XBOX releases of those. I find that the framerate and sound is a lot better, and if you're using the controller S much better controls... Apart from GTA I think the mapping on that game sucks.
That makes sense from a hardware point of view, but I could see a similar fate befalling the Xbox that the PS3 often suffers from. Despite being the more powerful console, the PS3 ports are often buggy and suffer from low framerates because the game was originally designed with the Xbox 360 in mind, due to it being the dominant console. Back when the Xbox was released, it was a newcomer to an industry dominated by the PS2. I could see Western-developed games possibly being made with the Xbox in mind then ported to the PS2, but that seems unlikely to happen for a Japanese-developed game. What's the skinny?
I´m quite firmly on the opposite end of spectrum. I play pc games with 360 wired controller. Batman arkham city/asylum are awesome that way with 2560x1600 resolution+AA. If the game doesnt need analog controls, then I use x-arcade dual stick. I even prefer single player fps with 360 controller rather than kb+mouse because its more ergonomic. (I have a case of wrist ache with too much mouse usage) I do play competitive multiplayer games with kb+mouse though.
