So its all over? Thoughts, comments & feelings please.

As a huge Oasis fan this is big news. Obviously it only about the 76th time they have split but its a bit different this time. Im sure Noel will put out his solo album now and Liam has his PrettyGreen stuff going on, will they be back together in a few years? I really hope so.

    Does anybody else care?

Thank God, I thought someone should have pulled the plug on them after Cigarettes & Alcohol. Oasis = hyped garbage!

Noel is a great guitarist, Liam is a tosser. Oasis were crap once they became famous.

    I can respect your opinion.

    Your favourite band?

All i can say is that i have been following Oasis since 1994. It's one of my favourite bands. It was a part of my teenage years and my life really. Not only their albums have great songs, but also their B-sides are fantastic. Oasis was one of those bands that i still cared about after a long time.

Anyway, i always thought Liam was/is an idiot. He would probably be still in Manchester if it wasn't Noel joining the band. Why he destroyed Noel's guitar minutes before they go to the stage to play? I wonder when he's gonna grow up? He destroyed his vocal chords with drugs, cigs and alcohol. Nowadays he's not even a shadow of what he could sing till 1998, even though his voice was improving during this tour. Last may, when they played here in Rio, i could see that by myself.

The BIG shame really is that the band ends when it had the best lineup ever. Gem, Andy and Chris Sharrock are fantastic musicians and really helped the band.

I guess the big problem was the long tour. Those two don't like each other and have been touring for 1 year. Plus why bother making a big tour in US when nobody gives a crap about them anymore?! They could also used some small breaks on the tour to relax.

Anyway, hope that Noel work on something and release a solo album. Gem is always with him on those acoustic gigs, and i can imagine Andy and Chris participating on that as well.

"B-sides are fantastic" = best b-side band ever?

"Liam was/is an idiot. He would probably be still in Manchester if it wasn't Noel joining the band" = buliding fence's in Burnley

    "I wonder when he's gonna grow up?" = 2005?

"He destroyed his vocal chords with drugs, cigs and alcohol." = I was looking for some action, All i found is Cigarretes & alcohol. Noel wrote that...

"his voice was improving during this tour. Last may, when they played here in Rio, i could see that by myself." - the last 6 months have been the best gigs of their lives.

"Andy" - who the fuck is Andy Bell?

"why bother making a big tour in US when nobody gives a crap about them" - sold out Madison square garden... & nobody in America likes them?

Not trying to dis what your saying Johnny. Just a few random retorts

Today was the day that it was thrown back at Liam

not shocked though, I've never seen 2 brothers that hate each other THAT MUCH ever in my life.

Huge fan but after Be Here now I stopped following them.

    Doesn't seem so...

A lot of lead singers from other bands, used drugs, alcohol, ... But their voices weren't destroyed. Liam used to sing screaming too much. Plus not threating his vocal chords when he had issues singing. I have a bootleg from a 1996 concert (don't remember where) where he can't even finish singing most of the songs (Noel has to do it for him). This was in 1996! This whole abuse ended with him having nodules on his vocal chords.

 Noel's quote on the Rio gig:

    The day of the gig:
We're in Brazil! Rio De Janeiro. Or as the natives say, "Redge-An-Airo". Should be a good gig tonight. Always is here.

    The day after:
These gigs just keep getting better and better. I didn't think we could top Peru, Argentina and Chile but fuck me, last night was easily up there with the best nights EVER! Amazing crowd. I suppose one should expect nothing less from Brazilians, but still - "well done".
    ...
Still, it's days like these that I'm glad I persevered with that bloody guitar when I was a young boy.

    Do you actually prefer Guigsy?

The problem is that they play too many gigs there. At the Garden they always sold out. Noel always complained about the american gigs, saying that the audience was always too cold. If he doesn't like there, why bother having a big tour in US?

On the whole Oasis career, they played only 3 times here in Rio. I went to all those gigs. 1998, 2001, 2009.

    No problem

I always thought they were pretty average with the exception of some hits from "What's the Story (Morning Glory)".

I don't have anything against Noel, but Liam is a total prick. I won't bat an eyelash if Oasis crashes and burns because of him.

They were good back in 1998ish? But then they fell off my radar. I will agree they got full of themselves.

I heard way too much of them in the 90's, and many of my friends have some of their CDs. They were popular here for awhile, and I think it's safe to say that if you ask someone on the street who "Oasis the band" is they would know who you're talking about.

    They're still egotistical hacks, though.

Cunt, how old are you ? If you were born after 1990 , then I would get why you have no fucking clue about your own musical history at all. But if you are born before 1982, then I believe your memory has been snorted to pieces . But anyway if you know any bands from Basildon, and know the history of the song writer Vincent Clarke, then you would probably get a clue who the fuck Andy Bell is. But I doubt it. Okay can somebody teach this wanker some manners ?

Maybe someone should teach you some manners? Why is it you always feel the need to attack things when you reply to anything.

I listen to absolutely everything at least once and if I like it, it gets played again.

Hence me saying 'Cigarettes and alcohol' was fine. I think that was a great album. It was raw and passionate. Everything else was tainted with ego & bravado. They truly believed their own hype and I switched off. When they staggered about & strutted like the new Beatles I had to laugh as they are nowhere near as imaginative. Had they produced something as outstandingly unique and World changing as "The White Album" I'd have started to take interest, but they just kept sounding like another version of the same old Oasis attempting to flog a dead horse.

Noel's guitar playing with other artists, solo material or anything without Liam was perfectly good. If he goes completely solo, I'll buy his first album and give it a go.

** Edit: I had to spend a miserable summer as a student busking with an Oasis daft friend of mine. We played a pile of other songs, but everyone kept shouting things like "play Wonderwall" or "Champagne Supernova" and I was forced to endure it! Bloody crap with no meaning what so ever! The guitar parts were ok though.

    Edited for manners!

Andy Bell = singer from Erasure. It must be said, not everyone will have heard of Erasure WDK, they are long gone and probably the average age of those who remember them must be 38-40 range (even if they've had a come back, who the hell knew other than old Erasure fans?)

If you want a laugh (not his best performance): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gy8g99omYw

Sorry for taking this OT, but WDK surely you would have said Roland Orzabal & Curt Smith were a far better writing team? No? (Tears for fears, folks!)
