The best band of this generation? No way. Don't believe the hype.

They were ok, but they'll never be the band they so desperately wanted to be. McCartney said it best:

which one called George Harrison a "Nipple"?

I thought they were a fantastic band. of course my favorite album was Be Here now which uh...the brother that didn't write the songs on this one but on all the others swept under the rug.

When these days a good band to most kids is my chemical romance or Fall out Boy I want to smack them upside their head and force them to listen to morning glory or Be Here now (or anything by radiohead) to show them what good music is

Parris, you are wrong about Erasure are long gone. They are just on hiatus , nothing more to about. It is not like Yazoo / Yaz is the best thing from V Clarke. Hell I would rather dance to Erasure than Yaz. But hey it is a matter of taste. Paulo go find some other sandbox to play in. Cause this tomcat here does not give a toss about you.

Mate, what do you mean ? Are we talking about Erasure or what ?
If it is about Paulo, then I am just honest about him. I have zero respect for him, to me he is NOT a moderator at all. Whether he has moderator magic with him or not.

Not really, I am just an arsehole at times. concept, I did not go into the Oasis discussion, cause I actually like their music. So I understand why you think it is very sad that they are splitting up. But as parris said, Andy Bell is the leadsinger of the band Erasure , and their music is extremely happy synthpop, heck you can even call it extremely gay synthpop. Cause it is very gay both ways. But I like it, cause I have nothing against the very happy approach to the music style. Since to me it brings some more positive things to it, in comparison to some of Depeche Mode (awesome) but very dark songs. Concept sometimes I am like a bulldog with any teeth in its mouth. Concept, I hope you can get along in the future. Cause what I am trying to say , is that I am actually a bit sorry about my stupidity .

And to Parris: thanks for the youtube link to Tears For Fears.

Well I guess I'll just have to go see them in a few years time.

To be honest, I read the news on BBC at Friday Night and I was actually pretty happy about it. There is bound to be a solo album by Noel, infact I bet he has one ready to be recorded right now.

    NOEL IS OASIS.

Nope, I disagree, I think Noel is better than Oasis and it has been a millstone around his neck for far too long. He's had to continue to write material that would suit the band and please fans. Without competing for attention, stage space and limelight with his flamboyant arse of a brother, I think Noel's solo material has previously shown that he'd outgrown Oasis ages ago. He's also done some great stuff away from Oasis.... example below!

Liam would have screwed this duet up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4b48Jx7Un0 (Yeah, I know it's Paul Weller's track).

If this really the end for Oasis then I'm absolutely devastated, but it's not as if they've never fallen out before so I'll remain hopeful they can patch things up again - even if I do agree with the general opinion that Liam's voice hasn't been at its peak for a long time now! In recent years the group was finally starting to build momentum again following the aftermath of Be Here Now, though I always felt a part of any Britpop band's success was the period just before "New" Labour came into power. While some acts have evolved radically since those forward-thinking days (and yes, Radiohead were never strictly Britpop but did make it big during that period, and therefore deserve mention as a notable example), others have faded into obscurity and spent the last decade or so desperately trying to stay afloat. Does anyone honestly believe the comeback of Blur will amount to anything more than pleasure to a few die-hard fans?

Anyway, the other point I wanted to make is that it's clear a few people here are confusing the "Who the fuck is Andy Bell?" comment. This was originally made by Liam on stage at Oasis' 2000 Wembley concert, released as Familiar To Millions. He managed to whip up the crowd into repeating this chant as a sly dig at the band's then-new bassist, who had previously been with Ride and Hurricane #1. For the record, he certainly isn't the same Andy Bell famous for being the frontman of Erasure. Still, to this day many don't know the difference and I just wanted to clear this up as an Oasis fan who DOES know the difference because I'm sure plenty of us here would rather keep things civil... even if the Gallaghers aren't the best role models for the British as a peaceful society!

Far from their intentional referencing (some might say blatant ripping-off, pun intended) of the Beatles, does anyone else see greater parallels with the Beach Boys in Oasis' career as of late? Both tread old ground musically and revolve around family members who can't get along yet suffer when they do rarely venture on solo paths, not to mention they each have lead singers who blew their vocal cords out years back through cocaine abuse - tell me you honestly can't notice the similarities? Oasis are the new Beatles? No, in just a few days the world will learn (as if it ever needed reminding) who the real Beatles always have been when their entire back catalogue is relaunched...

Never been a fan of them really, but have never been into indie/brit pop anyway. Best song I've heard by them is fuckin' in the bushes.

I will echo what others have said about Noel - his collabs with Chemical Brothers were good esp let forever be. He is funny as imo too!

Honestly i forgot about that quote from Wembley 2000. Anyway, what makes me  is that the band was doing great performances (way better than the previous tour), Liam's voice was getting better, Chris Sharrock was doing a fantastic job on the drums (saw them live and was amazed with his performance), Gem was participating more on the guitar...

Still, no one knows what will happen.

It escaped me that it was 'that' Andy Bell as I couldn't care less about Oasis' line up and various band members.

Kind of sounds like the bollocks thing Liam would chant though...

I used to love Ride when I was a teenager.

After WolverineDK's little outbreak at me i decided not to correct him in my response as it was more ammusing to me that he thought he was so very clever.
Probably better that his error is cleared up. I just didnt really want to get into some silly war of words.

concept: at least I gave you an apology, and I meant it. Does that not mean something, or do you think, I am messing about, when it comes to my apology ? Since I am not messing about.
