The free stuff thread

Anyone want these before I throw them out? All are NTSC:J, and generally in good condition apart from Spyro, which is pretty scratched but seems to still work OK. These are just the discs, no boxes or manuals.

 

I would consider having the Gran Turismo one (if it's serial SCPS-10045 and scratch free) and maybe a couple others, but i guess shipping wouldn't be worth the trouble.

 

Yeah, it's SCPS-10045, and it's in nice condition. Shipping is either really cheap (if you don't care how long it takes) or really expensive (if you use EMS). Whereabouts in the world are you?

I have a PlayStation RGB SCART from eBay store (retro_console_accessories). It's SYNC on LUMA, not CSYNC.

I converted the pinout from JP21 to EURO SCART standard, but it's untested.

I don't have a need for it anymore.

 

Does that mean it won't work with a standard PS1/PS2/PS3

 

The cable is specifically for PS1/PS2/PS3. I believe you'll need a sync stripper as well.

 

Yes, but I was talking about how you modded it to "sync on LUMA instead of CSYNC"? So, no it won't "just" work oob?

Also, I bought the cable with sync coming from LUMA. I just converted the SCART pinout from JP21 to the EURO standard.

 

I have no idea what you are talking about I'm trying to understand but I don't. Try to explain it to me like you're talking to a child, like you're talking to someone who has no understanding about the technical stuff that you're talking about.

 

He rewired the cable from the Japanese version of SCART (JP-21) to the European version. The cable takes sync from the Luma signal, which is one of the two signals in S-Video. It can remove the crosshatching pattern and other interference issues you can get when using the composite video signal as sync for RGB. A sync stripper, like the Sync Strike, is needed if your TV/monitor requires pure C-Sync and will not take sync from composite video or luma, like many arcade CRTs and some PVMs.

In plain terms, he only rewired it for European SCART and was saying what signal is used for sync (in this case Luma instead of composite video).

 

So, it should work on a normal PAL tv without additional hardware, right?

 

Iirc yeah, RGB is neither NTSC nor PAL so as long as your TV supports the refresh rate that your PS1/2/3 is outputting, you should be fine.
