    The GBMicro Discussion Thread

Hey assemblers. I've just created this thread, so we can all talk about the various matters, regarding the GB micro console...
    -------------------------------------------------------------
    Fell free to:

    -Give your opinions/ reviews
-Talk about the best games to play around with this small system
-Flash cards, as well as the homebrew scene etc.
-Anything you wanna ask or let the others know!
    -------------------------------------------------------------

As for me, there's not much I can particulary say yet. I recently decided I wanted to look after this lost tiny jewel, and here I am, seeking for bits of info, also by watching youtube videos of peoples reviews and unboxings...

I would like to hear your impressions about it.
Ah, almost forgot to mention... its portability and size fascinates me, and that's the reason why I wanna buy it. To play it on the road! :katamari:

I think it is quite an amusing system due to its ubber-portable size, the changeable face plates are fun, the screen is well lit, and again, it is incredibly portable

Unfortunately I don't own one yet, I've been tons of times about to buy one but then something else would catch my eyes.. and my wallet

The one drawback would be the lack of backwards compatibility, but anyway it's not that bad.

In terms of games, I'd recommend any Kirby or Pokemon game, as well as Zelda Minish Cap, amongst others of course.

    Cheers

I really wonder how the screen really is.. I mean, I see youtube videos, and read GB miro reviews witch say it may not be suited for everyone.

Anyways, I really wanna get one! I used to have the 1st generation GBA long ago, however I sold it, among with all my gb/gbc/gba games :(
Now, I wannahave this, cause I believe it will be fantastic to play in the bus, as well as every other bothering places I got to be.

As for the games, I really dont bother with the lack of backward compatibility, due to the fact that b using a flash cart, AFAIK we can emulate even the NES/SNES, etc. Not to mention that it ould loose a bit the tiny concept of the system.

I am really interested on purchasing pokemon Leaf Green or Fire red. And later Pokemon Emerald, who knows... Old school pokemon rocks, and I wanna experience it once again.

I have one and I think the screen is quite decent actually. It's pretty small but not too small IMO. It just takes a short while to get used to.

    I just love the micro.
Looks nice, has a great screen and is very small but sturdy at the same time.

Afaik, it wasn't really successful and I keep wondering why.
I bought a pink one for my girlfriend when they were selling for EUR30 retail here in germany, she loves it.

After that won a silver one at a gaming convention.

I haven't really touched GBA games until recently when my DS broke in two.
Have been getting more into it lately and am now catching up playing all the classics I missed.

I'm planning to get a famicom edition micro soon.

You say ur a pokemon trainer huh? Which pokemon from the CG series to the least, do you think it's better?
I used to have original red/blue/yellow/gold/silver and a fake version of christal... I loved the first games... I also played a few years later pokemon ruby I guess on an emulater, but I didn't feel the thing...

Does anybody know how can we trade pokemons using micro? Does the wireless adpater witch comes with the games work? (I dont think so, since the input for the ac adaptor is slightly different)

What you could do to run GB/GBC games on it is to use a GBA flashcard (I use a Supercard SD) and put a gameboy emulator on it. (the supercard has one built in) ;-)

    I purchased mine from realhotstuff.com
The shipping was quite fast, and it was 35$
You can also get it bundled with a superkey (a passme type card) that will let it run ds roms for 5$ more!!!!

The guy who runs it is great, he even gave me a free HORI screen protector!

(other notes, It also has a NES and SMS emulator built in!!!)

DO NOT GET THE RUMBLE VERSION! IT DOSE NOT RUN GB GAMES, ONLY DS!!

Thanks for the link! Wouldnt it be better this one: EZFlash IV GBA size ?
Since its seems to be the same size as a GBA original game.

OMFG! This seems awesome. (It doesnt mention GB micro, only gba. It should work with micro right?) I got one 2gb mini sd card on my Nokia phone, and a spare 256mb, so I guess this one suits me well. Thanks a lot dude!
I heard that flash cards can have problems with *save* functions... what you say about this?

    1. It WILL work with GB Micro

    2. GB/GBC games wont save useing the built ing emu, its mainly for the games that used passwords to restore your progress. What you can do to get around this is to get the emulator "Gomba Color" and just use save states to record your progres (it works for me!)

The best part of the supercard is the save states! You can do save states like you would in a gba emulator, and regular saveing. The only game I cant get to save is pokemon fire red, but thats the ONLY one!

I'm currently using a M3 with my micro.
Was the best device for GBA when I bought it and still works pretty good.
Supercard is good aswell, but the last one I had didn't automatically backup saves which is kinda annoying if you switch the system off and forget to save back to flash.
Both devices stick out the micro a little bit, but it's not too bad.
