Yo d4s, the M3 cards are too expensive.
Ed the Nerd, so you can't really save fire red anyways? I am looking foward to this for playing mainly pkm games. Do you know if leaf grean/emerald save?

Neither of those save either as far as I know, other than that, I havent had any problems with anything DS or GBA. However you can just use save states the hole game through;-) (What I do for those roms)

are you asking me what my favorite Pokémon game is? sorry, just having trouble understanding your question. i love both FireRed and LeafGreen. Blue and Red will always have a special place in my heart and FR and LG are nice upgrades. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are awesome, too. I have all my Pokémon on my Diamond cart right now.

i'm not sure about trading with the micro. i've never owned a micro. i couldn't trade between GBA games with two DSs so...

Ah, great! I thought it wouldnt work neither ways.

    Sure thing dude.

I suppose that the SD flash carts stick out but the mini SD don't.

Well the supercard is ALOT cheaper, also, the EFA dosnt use sd cards (or any removeable storage for that matter) so once its full, its full. If you get a suppercard, and your sd card gets full, just start filling another sd card, and have no need to erase games you like, just to play another game you like.;-)

Also, there should be no problems with it in a gb micro, I use my supercard on my freinds micro all the time.

If you read it carefully, you will see that what they said is that the Compact flash version has problems in the micro, NOT the super card SD. They even say the sd works fine.

Long story short, Supercard SD/miniSD is the way to go:mario:

Actually I can get EFA for 10$ more only.
I was unsure about it, due to the emus story, and also because of the slow-downs. I don't know if EFA does have them, like Supercard on some games... and since it was top list on that site, I gave it some attention.
Anyways, supercard seems to be the right choise for everyone, so I guess I'll take it.

I've been looking to get one but the main problems I have found:
    1) The only ones I can find for sell over here are pink (not a nice pink either)
    2) as I am in the UK there are no replacement faceplates.
    3) The only place I can find to buy them is EBay which is not a good idea if I want one without a load of scratches, etc.

Also, this is my first post! :)

Oh well, when I was looking forward to purchasing one from ebay, there was a seller from HK I guess, selling NEW Nes Edition GBM for about 50 bucks... though I can't find 'em anymore... and he had exellent feedback. Maybe you should wait and see what goes around, who knows a nice deal should pop out. Just so ya know, I gave up buying it, cause I realized I had to buy a Gamecube instead! xD

    Welcome to AG btw!

    just contributing a bit :)

took my micro apart today for some modding purposes and figured i'll scan the board since it was disassembed already.
no idea if these are of any use but a contribution is still a contribution :)

pics are 3Mb per piece so i'll just put links instead of direct images.

The Micro's screen isn't that great. I bought one for £20 delivered brand new. A love the system but the speaker is pathetic and the screen is cheap in quality- it reminds of my first generation colour screen mobile phones- black is not a true black, instead it is quite speckled. Text is perfectly readable and it is comfortable to play on, perhaps not for an extended amount of time though. Served me very well with Rhythm Tengoku. In comparison to the DSlite though, the colours appear washed out- it can't compare to the screen of the DS. The max brightness is similar, if not quite as bright as the DS.

here are some pics I used in my GBA SP thread.

Oh, and something else to add... as to why it 'failed'.. Nintendo themselves aid they 'failed to explain to the consumer the unique value of the Micro' (words to that effect).. To me, it looked like it didn't have a true market. Released too late, people were occupied with the DS- why would you need yet another console that can play GBA games? If you didn't already have a GBA, SPs were cheaper, too.

To me, the Micro seems to be muddled in it's purpose. I love the system in itself, but it was released too late and at too much of a high asking price to justify its uniquie selling points of extreme portability and exchangeable face plates. If it had been cheaper, maybe bundled with a couple of high-profile games and extra faceplate, not too mention released a little earlier, I think it might have been a different story!

Saying that.... it is my preferred way to play GBA games. The SP is a bit bulky and cumbersome my today's standards, and the frontlight doesn't really aid the graphics much. The DS has a beautiful screen, but its so big in comparison to the Micro- why have a wasted screen and protruding cartridge if the Micro is a valid alternative?

If anyone does want any extra info or pictures or videos or anything I'd be happy to be of service =)

Thanks for those board scans Mugi. Randy, I will agree about the speaker.. It really needs headphones to play anywhere with noise. But I have to dissagree about the screen. You make the it sound infinitely worse than it really is. It doesn't quite have the contrast ratio of the DSL, but its leaps and bounds better than any other Gameboy IMO. It's true that today there are better screens out there, but at the time it was released it was the best screen anyone had seen. It's sharp as hell!

Hm... It's vastly preferable to the SP frontlit screen; it's the best way to play GBA games. The DS is just cumbersome and too large for GBA games. Micro is a lovely little system. I agree, grahf, that headphons are essential. The speaker can only be heard in a quiet room with no background noise.
    Board scans are fantastic.

More screenshots. Maybe these will be useful. Both are on highest brightness. You can see the difference in saturation on the title screen, especially in the orange characters. Look at the sharpness of the edges.

*EDIT* Added Shots of SP. Hard to get a photo of the GBASP screen, keep getting my reflection. The colours are ghastly on the SP.

I suppose it wanst a waste to scan those then ^.^

personally i think the screen in micro is awesome, i only played with GBA SP so little that i can't really comment that or do any sort of compare, but the screen on micro is very sharp and the colors look just fine to me, it's not really that much "washed."
sure it's propably a bit less vivid than that of a DS or even GBA SP but that alone doesn't mean it's bad :p

as a device, the micro is awesome and as soon as i've got my case mod for it finished so that it stops giving me cramps for being too little to be held properly, it's gonna be even more great :p

Just to clarify my position here =)

Orginal advance. If I could see the screen, I'd report to you on what the colours looked like.

SP. Horrible washed out colours, 'blue' blacks, and refractions and reflections. Preferable to orginal GBA as you can see what you are playing. Best way to play original GB games due to light.

Micro. Graphics look so much crisper than SP due to smaller screen. Bright. Vastly preferable to the SP. The best way to play GBA.

DSlite. The best screen. The deepest, crispest colours, with intensely sharp edges, but who wants the bulk of a DS and protruding cartridge? The Micro is more comfortable for these games.
