I wasn't able to find any Dr. Marios at the store, so I went on target.com and you could actually order them. So I went ahead and placed my order for 2 (you need to spend at least $25 to get free shipping) and this is what I received in the mail... The box was too small to fit 2 inside, but that didn't stop whoever packaged it to just force them to fit inside. Seriously pissed me off so much that I don't think I will ever order Amiibos from the Internet again. Luckily when I took them to Target to return them I found a perfect Dr. Mario on the shelf (the last one, too!). Has this happened to anyone else? Gamestop currently has Zero Suit Samus in stock online, but I don't want to place an order just to have this happen again. I stopped by gamestop today and the girl working there told me if I come in right when they open on Friday they should have all the Amiibos I'm looking for plus the new Retro 3 pack.. So I'm crossing my fingers for that.
Mate, it's Target. You think a large chain store will give a fuck about packaging? It's the same place that used to wrap manuals around carts in their draws.
More to the point, the overwhelming majority of customers will simply not care - because the moment they got the product they would open and discard the packaging anyway.
I really didn't know what to expect.. It was my first time ordering amiibos online. But regardless, in the end they were returned and now they're gonna have to put those on the shelf just to be unsold. I think they should care about packaging regardless of how big they are, because people will just return the stuff. Forget that's it's an amiibo, because I know a lot of you don't like them, but if it was actually something really limited and worth collecting (to the people who don't like amiibos) and this same thing happened. Would it still be "ohh who gives a crap, what do you expect from a 'big company' like that?" I don't think so. Moral of the story is: if it's something that you want to keep the packaging of, whether it be an amiibo, a limited edition console, a special edition game, etc, it's better to get it in person so you can get a box that's not fucked up. Like when I recently bought my Wii U Mario Maker bundle, the guy took out the first box and the corners were all dented in. I was like "uh no, give me the next one behind it" and that one was in perfect condition. Because obviously that box is worth keep right? (To the people who hate amiibos) Now if I would've had it shipped to me and the box was dented up.. I'd be stuck with it or have to return it right? What if when I return it there's no more left? Btw, what does this mean?
I'm not knocking you on amiibo collecting, people can collect toenails if they like. Problem is, stores like Target, Walmart, or Kmart (being walmart in Australia). Do not care about packaging. They sell vacuums, and powerstrips with boxes open and taped up thousands of times at full price. Because in their stupid small minds, the product is "new". Once packaging has been opened or damaged, it's now used stock, and should be thrown onto the clearance trolley. So my point being with saying "it's Target" is exactly that, they still think the item's packaging doesn't mean anything as it's 'just packaging'. I'd be equally as upset as you would, I always kick up a fuss with stores when they think I'll buy damaged packaging, or ship things out with labels stuck on the boxes of the item, or packed poorly. Regardless if it's a box of pencils or a collector's item like amiibos. I'm buying something new, it should be new condition.
I know, I was only saying that because I know a lot of people here really hate amiibos. But yeah, in general it's a big WTF! From now on I can't trust buying things online with packaging I desire to keep. Even at the stores I will carefully examine packaging before I buy something and I always tell the salesperson, "sorry, I'm crazy" lol. I saw this on eBay... major fail by Gamestop And I snapped these pics at my local Frys Electronics...luckily they're just commons I think people do this shit on purpose, because at target there were a few Dr. Marios with the backing folded back. People sticking it to the scalpers? I dunno.. but it's really stupid.
It's also lack of 'giving a shit' by the staff. Failing to remove damaged stock, they just hope someone will pay full price for it and not notice/care.
Totally some of that going on. I went back to Frys almost a week later and that same ripped package was sitting there in the same exact spot. The toads are included free with the purchase of Captain Toad, but at the price of $39.99, which is a shit price.
It was just a joke to those who collect amiibo (or anything for that matter) that if it's kept in its box undamaged its going to be worth a fortune in the future, nothing more
Yeah, I know. Back when the chat was still working I heard a lot of flaming about amiibos so I know that they're unpopular with a lot of people on here. I recently started collecting them and I know they won't be worth a lot of money later or anything, but they look so nice on my shelf in their boxes
I'm pretty much only interested in exclusives and harder to find ones. But I WILL NOT, repeat WILL NOT pay more than retail. Amiibo hunting is part of the fun I got my friends and family always texting me pics of the amiibos and asking me if I want any of them. The best one was when my brother texted me late at night. "IS TOAD RARE?" I almost died.
lol.. then I'd have to go return them all and look like a scalper who bought up all the toads. The toads have become a giveaway with a game at some stores. They can't even give them away.
Really? I don't remember much of that. @AtomizerZero was a Shoutbox regular and he has a pretty massive collection. I don't think MBJ or Seph had many negative responses either. They're kinda cool. Not really my thing, but I get the attraction. Is there a Toadette?!
Yeah Atomizer's collection is ridiculous. I'm very jealous of it. No Toadette that I know of lol I did a bit of amiibo hunting this morning and showed up at my local gamestop at opening time and was 3rd in line. Picked up these guys I was pretty bummed about the stickers on the samus and the ganondorf, but the dude was like "just blow dry them and they will peel right off" I'm not sure how well that would actually work, but they were the last 2 on the shelf so I took them anyway. HOWEVER! After I got home, on gamestop.com they were in stock! along with the classic 8 bit mario. So I went ahead and ordered them online and when they come in I'll just take these 2 back. So I still scored! BUT GOD PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET THEM ARRIVE UNDAMAGED!!!! I will be posting it here!
These things are extremely expensive here in brazil. But about those stickers, why the people don't put the sticker in the plastic instead of the paper. It's just laziness. Those people that don't give a damn about anything and just work, all day long... There are so many like this where I've worked last year. And it was not retail. People are lazy about anything. Some say that they "already have their problems" to care about "everything". Curiously their cellphones are always in their priorities...
I agree with you so much. This morning at the gamestop there were a bunch of people lined up out front and they were supposed to open the doors at 10am, but they didn't open till almost 10:15. The whole time the 4 employees were laughing and on their phones, and selling items to themselves and putting them in the back for later. And only after that did they tend to the customers. And I don't believe the guy when he told me that that the stickers will come off with a blow dryer.. If the packaging doesn't get ripped, it will leave a sticky residue for sure. Luckily I ordered some new ones. People need to have more pride in their job. If they wanted to do all that stuff they should've came into work earlier and got it done, knowing it was gonna be a busy morning since there were new items coming out. But oh well, it's the norm now, right? On the other hand, you should've seen the apple store! Probably a 1,000 people waiting in line. It was a mad house. Luckily my 6s plus is gonna be delivered to my house any time now. I don't get why people wait in the line when they can just order it to their house.
