After extended testing and research, I have developed the definite version of my mini-bong

    from this: http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/5474/dsc00552n.jpg

    to this: http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/1169/pb300700.jpg

    Benefits include:

thick solid, one-piece "design" - no more need for duct tape or worrying about changing the tape because it might leak at some point

small, portable, can be placed on a table.

Green glass makes dirty water appear colourless

Of course the metal bowl is detachable and piped to the water by a small straw.

    less, shorter straws.

In terms of efficiency.. better airflow and shorter distances result in less particles lost to the plumbing and better suck/response times:p

    Downside:

it does take a bit of patience and a good mate to drill a Tabasco bottle

Anytime I smoke out of something like that ie pepsi can I feel like I'm doing some dirty hard drug lol. I prefer the classic pipe or real bong. Home made just gives me anxiety when I smoke. I feel like I'm doing crack or something. Mary Jane is an expensive girl buy her nice things, Quater machine jewlery just doesn't cut it for her.

That's like making fun of me for owning a famiclone... it's still as enjoyable :p

    1) I didn't spend any money on it, so that's one plus

    2) It blends in with the rest of the kitchen-ware, no curious eyebrows raised if someone spots it (unlike a bong proper, or a pipe)

    3) it's so small, portable, and since I didn't spend any money buying it, I can throw it away the moment it becomes a legal liability.

    4) it's much more durable than any bong you'll get at a shop

PS: this isn't like smoking out of a Pepsi can/bottle though. This is proper glass and isn't a one-off contraption. The time it took to drill a hole into it makes it cost one man-hour at least at resale:p

This might look better, but one less indicator when to change the water.

    Pardon my green-n00bness.
Is there a reason not to change the water?

no, hence my comment. The cleaner the better, although it has to be pretty dirty to make a difference in the smoke. That said, leaving the water in for some time will allow the plumbing to build-up brown stoney-tar which you can rub against rolling papers and smoke them like cigarettes that don't really smell like green ;)

I still prefer to roll a good old joint, or make some cookies (yay Christmas season).

    Haven't smoked bong in years.

I used to be a fan of the joint for 5 years before recently adopting the water pipe.

Joints have in my view the following negative points:

    - they need to be rolled. I know how to, but I can be arsed to when I m stoned, especially when there's a large group of people involved.

    - they need smoke and rizzlas, both of which cost more than refilling a bong with water.

    - they can taste harsh if the weed is of low quality, a common variety here in Greece.

    - they create too much smoke and are hard to conceal when someone makes a surprise visit - the smell is persistent as you know. In contrary the bong keeps the smelly bits inside the water, safely concealed from people's nose. It also produces much much less smoke, making it almost an odourless endeavour. This is especially good if you have parents or unsuspecting people around and you're in your room :p

    - Joints need roaches (here in Europe at least:p ) and the cut areas of books, leaflets, magazines etc is a good tell-tale sign that someone's smoking weed. I d rather have none of this privacy invading stuff! Same goes with the roaches when the joint is spent.. they can be found in your trash, in ashtrays or around the premise.

    - Joints make bad lungs faster. The extra goodies found in tobacco are really not a meant to go down unfiltered.

    - Joints tend to make use of more weed with lesser results at the same amount.

Now some of you will show me pictures of bongs with huge bowls but I m against wasting good weed. Hence why I use a pipe-bowl, and I don't even stuff it full or anything.

So, why not just clean your piece out before you use it, instead of having to carefully store a potential stinky thing?

because water might not be easily accessible where you're going, or if you want to take her for a walk in the park ;)

PS: you can screw on top the original red cap btw

Haha, reminds me of my brother's old apartment. Three bedroom, and a very large closet. Guess how many guys lived there? Somehow a twin size bed fit in that room. Perfectly. That guy got to live there (in the closet) (albeit probably illegally) by just paying the electric bill.

We had 3 Chinese students live in a 13m² bedroom in our student dorm, illegally of course.
I think they thought we couldn't tell them apart hahaha.

I'm on my 2nd beer right now, the last one that was in the fridge... I need more supplies.

I quit the bong about the time I whitewalled a 6 foot bong and cleared it one hit on the stickiest green I have ever smoked. I tripped into space. I felt like I was on salvia. I stick to the good ol' fashioned peace pipe. Haven't smoked in 6 months though. I prefer smoking over drinking IMO. Green isn't harmful to your body and has healing benefits as well as just making you relax. Don't know why everyone puts a spot light on it like its something harmful and horrible.

I'm not sure whether you're just young and inexperienced, or simply lucky enough never to have suffered weed psychosis yourself or seen it in others, but what you said right there is complete bullshit. Any time you ingest a powerful psychoactive over a long period of time it will have an effect on your brain, and weed is certainly no exception. I smoked it every day for about five years, and while I never went off the rails, several friends and acquaintances really lost the plot at one time or another, and it's no fun watching that.

It's always frustrating to see the pro-weed contingent trot out the nonsense about how it's completely harmless. Certainly, it doesn't cause violent mayhem like alcohol often does, it's probably less carcinogenic than tobacco (jury's out on that one; it's certainly not good for your lungs, either way), and used every now and then in moderation it's unlikely to be an issue. The problem is that it's absolutely not harmless, especially not if you're perma-baked, and the prevailing wisdom among potheads does not reflect this. Stoners tend to class weed in one area marked "fine" and other drugs as "hard and possibly dangerous", and this is just as misguided as the view that all drugs lead to sucking cock in public toilets for crack rocks.

From my own experience, stopping being stoned all the time is really fucking weird. It's only when you are looking back that you realise how much it affected your mental state. I'll come straight out and say that some of the best times in my life have been on drugs, and I'll still smoke a spliff if it's going, but the idea that there's no psychological and physical cost to this indulgence is idiotic and delusional.

Uh, rant over. That was more of a vent at stoner assumptions in general, I guess. Nothing personal.
