I'd be interested if you had oval-button Saturn modchips.

(The round-button Saturns can't play a few of the SEGA Ages games) :-(

I'm guessing this is what killed my Saturn too...well I say killed...more injured.

It boots games but very slowly and anything which requires disk access during gameplay is doomed.

    Really? why?

Plus a lot of AGES games came out when the MK1 was already discontinued, and most Saturns were of the round-button kind.

There are two versions of the white Saturn (Round buttoned) one won't play Out Run and another Sega Ages game (Maybe Galaxy Force II) while the other will. Sadly I can't remember the Bios version of the white Saturn that will play Out Run. The older grey (oval) buttoned Saturns play everything apart from the Japanese In the Hunt which NO Saturn want's to play. F*ing cock up and ahalf that release was. Oh, One of the Gundame side scrolling games won't show the FMV on the oval buttoned Saturn but will on the round buttoned one. I checked this on my Hi-Saturn, Sega Saturn, V-Saturn, Sega whiteSaturn and Sega Crystal Black Saturn.

On the White (round-button) Saturns, Space Harrier plays with jerky gameplay and stuttery or no sound, while OutRun won't boot at all IIRC.

It'd definitely be a good idea. I'm sure too that they'd all sell eventually, Saturn is quite popular and it doesn't seem to me that it's easy to find modchips anymore. I wouldn't be interested in one unless my current Saturn has problems or I buy a second Saturn.

Just piling on. I just repaired my Saturn chip by redoing a bunch of the cold solder joints. All the same, I have a pile of Saturn hardware crying out to be used. I'm certain I would be among the potential buyers if a new batch was to be available.

The last chips I got from Canada cost me about $20 a piece for a quantity of them, I forget how many. I probably got ripped off. :) If this new batch is like the latest version, then a lot of the components have been consolidated onto three IC units only. This means that the separate crystal, a TTL timer and a couple of SMD resistors can be omitted since their functions are duplicated by the latest version of the PIC code. As always, the quantity produced is the driving factor behind the price.

Playing an import game on a usa system is possible without an action replay cart which would stretch out your cart slot and make it not work eventually. All you need to do is make a bin/cue image of the import game then use satconv to change the region from japan to usa. Now your import game will work on a usa saturn and your original copy wont be damaged from use or swap tricks. Plus no cartridge slot wear from 3rd party carts that are too thick.

The price would be under $20.

    I'll order them this week.

I don't have a Saturn yet but if these are the last mods going around, I should pick one up too.

I will also take one, provided there are precise instructions on how to install it properly.
