Debugging the system vs. debugging user code.

Yes they can be any region as there aren't region specific PS3 debuggers.

    True but I wasn't quite sure. =)

I'll have to try it out when the unit gets returned to me. =D

Care to post pics, and maybe explain how you acquired it? Sounds like an early Shreck unit which normally had the designation CEB-1020. The only thing I could find with the CBEH prefix is the protoype sixaxis/dualshock controllers.

i know this isn't relevant to the devkits were talking about but, i heard the debug firmwares uses special loader keys so isn't it possible that we can randomize it to be installable on retail units? just curious since how demostration/Shop firmwares works on retail and how it worked in very past ofw firmwares 3.18 or lower some where between it?

Debug consoles use the exact same keys as retail consoles.

I've made some photos of the box. It was found in Sony's storage with normal US Debugging Station inside. I wanted to keep the box so I bought it for about 15$. I asked the seller but he had no idea about it.

As you can see, it doesn't have the serial number.

No, because there are other checks in place.

No, they just packed together a debug dev_flash and installed it on a retail console, then clumsily hacked vsh to allow using the features.

Awesome! so basically the team used a way to unpacked Debug PUPs and then hacked the debug's vsh.self or vsh files and repacked to an installable PUP firmware on retail correct? Also any clues where this method may work on any debug firmware via Debug firmware 3.66 while running any ofw?
