    I have just picked up a DTL-H10000

    Says

    Debugging Station
    AC 220-240V 50/60HZ 50W

    Is this yet another version?

Also would I be able to plug this in to the UK mains?

Well, as you probably know, UK mains voltage is 240V @ 50Hz, so it should be fine.

My DTL-H30002 has TEST on it

Perhaps they just did it on a whim or whatever cases where available when they were made

All models of debug station have TEST except for the "s" models if I'm not mistaken.

From the disc Technical Reference dated 2001(contains the docs from an old version of the sdk, a lots of faqs, the program of differents sony dev conference, and a copy of the various sce.dev. newsgroups from the year 2000), I found the following informations in the file tool_faq.pdf :

Q: What are the differences between the Japanese debugs and the new American
    and European ones?
The Japanese debug has a PC card slot in the back, but the American and European
debugs instead have an expansion bay for the future hard drive. The difference between
American and European debugs is the AC line voltage and and some minor differences in
the operating system (defaults to PAL or NTSC mode, etc.) The American and European
debugs can play production discs from all regions. However, since the Japanese debug
was made before the territory system was finalized, the Japanese debug cannot play
consumer North American and Europe PS2 discs, only CD-R and DVD-Rs development
and mastering discs. The Tool (DTL-T10000) has the same CD/DVD drive as the
Japanese debug so it can't play American or European consumer PS2 games either. The
Tool doesn't have the menus and memory card manager (OSD), or PS1 emulator like the
    debugs.

Some of the debugs have model numbers with an S on the end, like DTL-H10000S.
These just have the "PS2" logo on top instead of the "TEST" logo, for use at trade shows.

DTL-T10K can play SOME of the retail DVD from EU with no problems - main case here it should be mastering disc, may be a case when retail disk went production as mastering.

It's the version 1.0 of the tool_faq, dated November 20, 2000, since then there has been some upgrades to the TOOL bios, right?

    Debug PS2 Question

I have a debug system DTL-H30001 and I copied a blue bottom disc onto CD-R. The test Ps2 tries to read the disc but the screen goes black. Then when I put the original disc in and reset the ps2, the PS2 is able to read the game fine and during gameplay I can swap the disc out with the copied one and it will read the copied game. How do I make it so only the copied disc needs to be inserted? Also with burning DVD Rom discs, do the need to be on DVD-R or can they be on DVD+R? Thanks.

You need to patch the iso to master with Loser's PS2 Disc patcher before you burn it, it's available on his website http://www.xorloser.com

If you ever pop the top, some PCB shots would be awesome.

Would be interesting to know if there are any laser issues with the slim Debugging Stations - i.e. what kind of laser driver it has :)

    Congrats!

To update the list, mattcp confirmed playing PAL and NTSC-J retails on his TOOL. I failed to play a retail NTSC-U on mine but I only have 1 retail to test with at the moment, will confirm later if NTSC-J/U/PAL work on mine too.

    As for the models:

    DTL-T10000 / PS2 TOOL (P233MMX/64MB) 110/240v
    DTL-T10000H / PS TOOL w/external HDD (Celeron566/128MB) 110/240v
    DTL-T15000 / PS2 TOOL (Celeron566/128MB) 110/240v
    DTL-T14000 / CD/DVD emulator for PS2 TOOL development system

Can somebody provide a picture of the DTL-T14000 BTW?
