    Weird! seems the specs don't relate to the model number then.
    Can somebody else post specs of their T10k's and T10kH's? and maybe check the serials to see where they start using 'newer' hardware?

    Just tried a differend T10000H and this time it was indeed a celeron 566/128MB - mysterious!

    what? a TOOL with a celeron and 128MB o'Ram? What sort of PCI card does it sit on? is it the same as the standard MMX board?

    Not only 128Mb, but the 566 processor is weird too. Many of these machines appear to be differing specs. In ordering them from Sony, I wonder whether you could ask Sony to up the specs on them, a bit like Dell - basic starts at $19,000 but if you wanted to add to it you could get further upgrades?

    Will try to make some pix this weekend of the card when I open it up again.

    To my knowledge P233MMX is socket 7, and the Celeron 566 socket 370 so the pci card must be different (probably no upgrades possible as 233 was the fastest socket 7 CPU released)
    But the persons with the 566 Celeron do have upgrade possibilities, in the bios the multiplier is set to the lowest available 66MHzx8.5 (=566) with lots more that are higher, hence it is overclockable and upgradable with higher speeds of socket 370 CPU's *probably even non celerons but real PIII's with some extra cache memory :) tho I would not try to overclock it it might be cool to do an official upgrade as these CPU's cost almost nothing nowadays.
    The fastest socket 370 is a Pentium III 1.4GHz/133, I'll have to check if the multiplier/FSB supports this speed, if so it would be very cool to upgrade and the TOOL will be a decent workstation! but if the FSB is stuck on 66Mhz then the highest possible would be a bit lower 66x[X] (i'll confirm later as I'm still at work)
    Next i'll check for any memory upgrade possibilities ;)

    BTW mattcp can you PM me the serial of both the T10kH's 233 & 566 so we can try and check when they started adding 566's?

    It looks like they had fixed models and just offerred better specs at a moment in time were probably 233MMX was out of production and the celeron 566 was the 'cheapest' around to use.
    Most are 233MMX and 4 others I read about until now are 566, seems to be serial related tho I dont know exactly where they started adding 566's but my rough guess at this point would be between serials 5015XX and 5030XX, can be more specific if more of you would PM me serials and specs.

    As for the 566 models: looks like they are quite upgradable!

    CPU clock ratio is set on 66 X 8.5 and can go up to X 12 and the CPU HOST/PCI Clock/PC133 (FSB/PCI/Memory speed) can go as high as 166MHz/42MHz/133MHz this means it supports theorectically: 166x12: 2000MHz but being realistic and not overclocking the fastest would be 1.4GHz PIII.
    As for the memory seems it supports 133MHz mem (now 128MB/100 is used) , just not sure yet how big a single chip can be but I would guess it to accept max 512MB/133, maybe even 1024MB/133 so this is good news!
    Now finding some old 370 socket CPU with more then 566MHz to test it out :)

    I've never seen a TEST with the start-up card so I'd be interested to see a piccy too.

    The test system Im selling now is a bit strange. It can play [J] video games. Its not modded or anything though. Anyone have an explanation? Its a DTL-H30001.

    I got it when I tested with Acclaim before they moved out of new york.

    Really. I didn't know if it had been modded by acclaim because all it said is NTSC on the back facia.

    What would be the point of modding a Test unit?

    Japan is NTSC, just like the US.

    Perhaps you should do a bit of research into the items you're flogging...

    Well I did do research, it pointed me to this website under Assembler's post. If you google the DTL-H30001 this is the 2nd to pop up. It says NTSC is US/Canada. But the case of the Japanese game dosent. It says [J] for Japan only. Thats why I thought it was strange.

    US, Canada and Japan are all NTSC.

    The North American region code is U/C.

    The Japanese region code is J.

    NTSC does not designate US/Canada.

    It will also play PAL games but output them in (*I Think*) 480i with NTSC colour but at 50Hz (i.e. NTSC 50)

    PS2 games on F3Zeros unit (now MisterHard's unit) will be displayed in PAL.

    PSone games will ALL be displayed in the unit region (NTSC) regardless of the game format.

    Here's a query for anyone who currently owns or is familiar with the Japanese PS2 Test DTL-H10000. I've read through this thread and I can't see mention of my specific query, which is:

    Has anyone spotted any DTL-H10000 units that when powered up, display SCPH-10000 instead of DTL?

    At first I was cursing the seller as I thought 'He's swapped out a retail board on this unit', but in actual fact I've ended up with 3 of them from a reputable enough AG member. All display the same. They are all apparently from a UK developer, they are all fitted with 220-240vac supplies, but neither the less the stickers on the rear of the units do correspond to this and ALL say DTL Debugging Station.

    Of course they play retail, but crucially they also read & load burned media too. Has anyone spotted this before, but it's just never been posted? I thought I was lumbered with 3 retail BIOS machines!
