I recently got currious what the most rare ps1 game is. The rarest ps1 game i know of is nba 2 ball but if theres a more rare ps1 game out there do please share.
NBA 2 Ball was a give-away demo. If we are talking hibaihins/not for sale items, there are certainly many in an "impossible to acquire" range. I would be interested in the rarest game that was released in stores. No matter if it was in Japan, US or an Europe country.
to my knowledge, I know of probably the most expensive "set" but no particular game. The mysterious Elemental Gear Bolt Assasins Case seems to be the most expensive for the ps1 fetching around $1,800.00 or more, depending on the seller and such. The web says, again not for sure, that there were only 40 made by Working Designs.
i think to most rarest NTSC/J game is ABE '99 (is Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus in EU or US) really... impossible to got Original or Backup/ISO.
Didn't know about it, but there are currently two auctions up on yahoo of which one is even for a brandnew copy (18'000yen), so I guess it cannot exactly be the rarest J-title out there. Other stuff like LSD or Rakugaki Showtime is in a similar pricerange, but those can all be found in the treasure shelves at JPN game stores or somewhere on Yahoo at almost any time.
What?! Abe's Exoddus is pretty common in the UK. There are 12 copies on eBay right now. To answer the original question, you have to define the criteria for the game (region, whether it's just released titles etc.) and your idea of what rare means. Rarest does NOT mean most valuable, necessarily. Technically, the rarest game is the one which had the fewest copies pressed. You could say that rarity and scarcity are two different things, although people do use them interchangably.
When i say rare i meen game that hare like stadium event hard to find not persay most valuable hardest to find making it more rare. Ironicly the most rare title is usual the most expencive one as well but i could be rong.
That "golden gun" was NOT a retail box - it was a press promotion - otherwise Namco would have spanked their ass for using their hardware.... Golden spraypaint on plastic...
Apparently it came with a warning not to use the golden GunCon if you had sweaty hands as the paint would rub off.
Now the game itself is retail 100% correct? In most cases (get it get it) like this companies use an existing item to suit the product. Meaning I don't think the metal case was created just for this use. They found an exisiting case that fit the size they needed and perhaps the foam may have been cut to fit but these cases without the game are out there somewhere. Add some gold paint and who can tell the prize from the recently created example? Was any paperwork included with these?
Are you CRaZy??? :-0 ABE'99 is on eBay???? 12 Copy??? holy shit... want to see! ... i mean that ABE EXODDUS... not common USA or PAL version... -.-
Harmfull Park and Dodonpachi are also quite uncommon these days, and they are both most wanted shmupses. At least you won't find them much easier than lets say an original sapphire on PCE.
