Ok, with all the new systems coming out with each of their weird controllers (Maybe sans Xbox 360), I bet these arent even close to being as bad as some we've had in the past, however. I was searching and I think this controller takes the cake as the dumbest idea ever. http://www.hori.jp/products/ps2/controller/dqmsc/ Just look at this thing. Ugly, Uncomfortable, and really dumb. Post other bad controllers so we can appreciate the Next gen one's more!
It looks to heavy and bulky to be comfortable AT ALL. Even Shaq would probably dissaprove. Im not much of a fan of the Dragon Quest Series, anyway. Those horrid controllers that look like demons or whatever arent too appealing, either.
The keyboard controller hybrids suck ass. reminds of the jaguar 64bit controller. And how dare u insult the slime controller!! lol
http://www.geocities.com/metalkeir/activator.jpg Contest is over guys. The Konami NES controller you used by ..shouting... and that stupid clip tube thingy http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewarpzone/laserscope/albertnoi2.jpg might not work unless you click on it.
Ah, "collector" controllers, the worst of poorly designed controllers. Alluring, yet so "back of the closet." I submit these: The FFX2 Twin Bee Guns controller The RE4 chainsaw controller Both these controllers blow my mind. I've held the chainsaw, and man, that's uncomfortable. The slime is cute and probably more playable than my examples.
How the hell can u sweat while playign a game? Jesus, i can't imagine how annoyed my parents would get if i was playing usng that.
... I have every controller listed on this page... The slime controller is just plain unusable, but it's a cool decoration. That stupid shout controller just doesn't work. I'd like to submit the matell power glove for the NES, nothing like taking a prop from a movie and making it into a controller. Oh, and there's this: Which doesn't look too bad, but then you realize the analog stick is actually your entire wrist. Couple that with buttons that are phsicly impossible to press, and you can't do certain button combinations... it sucks. And all for a price tag of $90 USD
I think I have to step in and defend the shouting headset controller. My cousin (gee, isn't it always the cousin who has something?) had one of them and it did work quite nicely. Just point and shoot....pretty accurate if I recall.
I'm just surprised that someone hasn't done a "special edition" DOA controller in the style of a blow-up doll (try not to think about where the thumb sticks would be located)...
Original xbox controller. imo That trance vibrator is the buisness, I can't play the game without it. A surprisingly good controller is the super robot taisen one hand controllers, they look silly but they work great for adventure, strategy and rpgs. I actually get quite a bit of use out of mine.
Haha, I found one of these for $5 at a garage sale and had to get it just for the sheer fun of it all. I thought the concept would be neat in Goldeneye 007 - how wrong I was! The movements which trigger onscreen action are a surefire path to carpal tunnel, and as ProgrammingAce mentioned, the buttons are only accessable if you add another joint to your fingers, one that moves backwards. Altogether a very, very horrible controller design. The RE Chainsaw is pretty awful as well. The DQ8 Slime controller just looks absolutely hilarious - I'd buy one just to have it sitting on top of my TV. I hear that they're not really as awful to play as they look.
us saturn controller nuff said saturn analog pad good saturn japanese controlers good us saturn pad AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH IT BURNS:lol:
Nah, the original US/EU Saturn controller was the business, I really like the D-pad and the shape is not *that* bad I think
I was actually searching for a controller for the psx (I think it was) that worked like the glove but you put on your foot... ...but I found this instead. the "Onimusha 3 Sword controller" edit: forgot to mentition about the foot controller that they tried to sell it as the ultimate fighter controller
I second that, I really found it far less offensive than most people say, and it actually fits comfortably in your hands. The d-pad is quite excellent, the clicky shoulder buttons offer a nice response, and the only reasoning behind the criticisms I've heard towards its design seem to be, simply, that it's not the Japanese one. The original XBox controller, however... You know it's probably a bad design when you realize your Dreamcast is about the same size.
The only thing i can see counter the US saturn controller is that it feels a bit cheap, other than that, its fine. people tend to bash everything made for the US, and i the other hand, salute everything from japan (in terms of video game). I dunno if its for the hardcore look that it may produce, or not.
True, the controller feels a bit light for its size, but I've never had it feel cheap. You know when you buy a cheapo third-party controller, and you can feel it bend and creak if you accidently twist it a little bit while playing? I've never got that with the model 1 Saturn controllers. They're light, but solid.
I find the Gen 1 Saturn pads just feel a bit awkward in my hands. IT fits but it doesnt feel comfortable. On the other hand, one of my mates will only play a Saturn with the Gen 1 controller. As far as I can tell, its more about hand shape/size that makes either controller comfortable.
