has anyone figured out it is no longer the revmote! it's now the WiiMOTE!!! I also hate the name, but the gamespot article does have a point. names like dreamcast sound cool, but for some reason didn't sell. the "market researchers" say the name will create a buzz because it can be referenced to so many other things. just off the topof my head: peeing small a rollercoaster ride "weeeeee" "we" as in 1st person plural weewee like penis or wiener Wiifi will probably come up wheel wiil i still find the name stupid, but at least it will generate much needed attention.
A bad name, Yes, but let's just wait till we see the games. As long as they don't suck, Ninty will be alright. Still...if you combine "Wii" AND shitty games, well...not even the marketing wizards at Sony could fix that.

When will the marketing idiots (yes, this name actually pisses me off) learn that people do not buy consoles based on the name? Nintendo has their head up their own asses if they think that the symbolism surrounding the use of Wii/We is going to mean a damn thing to people who buy the console. People will buy it because it is Nintendo or because there is a game that they want to play on it, so why give it a retarded name like this?

They chose Wii because it's stupid and it gets people talking, but they should have named it something more sinister, because all the 18-25 year old male crowd is too concerned about their macho image to risk it with a girly sounding console. It should have been the Nintendo Angr, Devl, or Slamr, like all those cell phones razr, pebl, and rokr. Better yet, the Nintendo Skiit, "yo, did you get the new Nintendo Skiit Skiit?" They would sell 50 million consoles if their ad-campaign was "You are gay if you don't get one of these" or "Better buy a Wii, because no girl is going to touch yours"

Announce name that causes huge uproar from the community *check* Sites everywhere post the news *check* Forums explode with talk of the new name *check* No-one seems to be talking about the competition *check* Come E3, Nintendo announce that after considering the response they have decided to change the name back to Revolution, fans everyone rejoice, not only at the better name, but that Nintendo is actually listening to its customers... *we can only hope*
I don't mind if you did it, but the Gamespot watermark pissed me off. I made that photoshop for here, and if it's on there with my watermarks taken off and their's on, I am going to spit nails.
