Depending on who would carry their service and other terms, I would buy it. I'm an Apple guy honestly, but I would buy a PSPhone before I got an iPhone!

Uggg. Qualcomm suck. SE needs to stop using those damn things.

They are, It's called PSP2. Get with the rumor times man.

Probably won't use UMDs or any optical media. Rumors are it's using a flash based media.

Not that flash. Flash memory. Same tech found in SD/Memstick Duo/etc.

But most likely in a non writable state. =P

Isn't. That's like saying 3DS is going to be like PSP Go.
Solid state/flash media =/= Digital Downloads only.

:banghead: Uh... Same way they do for DS games?

For all intents and purposes (ignoring the technical terms), Rumors pin it on being like DS carts (but not actually like DS carts).

We all understand now? Or do I need to explain how DS carts are available for sale?

    -edit-
To clarify some more. DS games might seem like just really small Carts akin to what we use to play on SNES/GENESIS/N64/ETC. But DS games are not the same tech. used in carts. DS games are not mask roms (memory mapped Read only Memory). DS games act more like hdd/disc media and have file system to them.

That just makes me hope it is real. Its a PSP, you get some good games but hey its also a phone. I don't have an Android/Smart phone, but I would love to have this!

Well it's kind of hard to know everything included on a device that hasn't been officially announced yet. Now is it?

There is a pretty decent rumor out there that the device will still have retail sold games but they won't be optical disc. If the unit was Digital Download only like the Go, rumors would state as such.

You totally did mix them up. The PSPhone will be download only, the PSP2 will be cart/flash memory based.

. . . . :banghead: :dammit: . . . in my convoluted attempt to keep the features between the PSP2 and the PSPhone separated, I thought the PSPhone was going to have cartridges like the DS. Regardless, I would still probably get a PSPhone as it would be nice to have a PSP on me at all times that is more than a PSP.

I'm never messed with the PSP Go, but I really like the PSN Store, especially for the fact that once you buy a game, you can delete and re-download it. Yes there are bad aspects to this type of game buying, but its not different with some other device of which will not be named here.

Again I would have to see specs and pricing before I made an decisions, but I would at least look at it . . .

I think the PSP2 will have a proprietary cartridge for the system similar to a DS Cartridge for the Nintendo DS, not another flash card that is designed to only work with Sony devices such as the memory duo. This allows for more security and theoretically less pirating. What has always amazed me was how easy the PSP was to hack and how difficult the Playstation 3 was to hack, complete night and day difference . . .

If from what people have said here in this thread and from what I've read online the PSPhone if its real and it ever does get released with be a Digital Media only device, no UMDs or Cartridges for it.
