I hear thats the max draw, and if you used the same calculations for 360 it would be even higher XP But what do I know?

Recognize what the PS3 attempts to be: a set-top multimedia device. Taking that into account 380W isn't so unreasonable. I pay less than $0.04/kWh with a $8 monthly transmission fee. To leave it on 24/7 for the entire year that's <$450 for me, roughly the same as my computer and monitor. As consoles now strive for and beyond contemporary desktop performance, you can't expect them to not use the same current hungry components, get over it.

:033: I'm fine. I live in an apartment in downtown montreal. I don't pay for electricity directly (it's covered in my rent cost).

    :noooo: Need another excuse

Dude, if I were worried about energy consumption then I should've choose another hobby ratter than games and computers, dont you think?

I just mentioned the energy issue as yet another in the large string of things the PS3 has...

the X360 adaptor (on itself) I think refers to the number 208 watts (can't bother to bend down and check). I m waiting to see the final retail units operate in gaming conditions, and - hey- if it works like they say it does, hats off to Sony for knowing black magic.

Not really, there are plenty of people concerned about energy consumption including myself. I've gone as far as building a SMPS to replace my inefficient AC adapters and own as many LED light bulbs as I can afford to save energy. The tone of this thread suggests to me that the PS3 draws as much power as a refrigerator or electric stove which of course it doesn't. The PS3 isn't a major appliance nor is it intended to run off batteries; it just has a brand new architecture which hasn't been refined to the state of IA-32 or PPC efficiency. Because of this I don't think it's fair to use the MAX rating of the power supply to it's detriment, that's all.

Worse than having internal AC Adaptor, is the wireless controller battery.

You gotta open the controller to replace the Li-On battery... Why ?! Probably because they won't sell replace batteries. So you guys must buy a new controller! Sony "intelligence" at it's best.

Yep, and we dont know if the batteries arent from the explosive kind either...

About being replaceable, looking at the Dualshock2 overall quality I think the battery in the sixaxis will last longer than the controller itself.

They had to replace the rumble with the one thing that can beat it out: explosions. Tilt the controller, shoot a gun, and BAM, there it goes in your hands. Hold a gernade too long? You'll lose your hands in real life too. :)

heh maybe the Chinese will develop some kind of locking system where your hands can't leave the controller, then you can do battle with others online and see how much of a serious gamer you really are...

woah! I hope Sony fixes these problems soon. :banghead:

thx for the link, I didn't see this one. not that I'll be using my PS3 box to play PS2 games a lot (after I get the one I'm keeping.... maybe next year!) ... but still, at least the X360 doesn't have serious problems like these.

And it has a PS2 built-in. Who knows what would happen if they tried to emulate through software.

Now thats fuck up: the PS2 didnt have AA by hardware, and now the PS3 has what? 1X AA? jezz...

I couldn't believe it either... But check the screens (these seem to be on 720p but i read in at least 3 message boards that 1080p is exactly the same)

The return of the jaggies. Let's face it, they can never do a proper looking game. PSX = warp from hell. PS2 = Mega Jaggy city and now PS3 = jaggies like you wouldn't believe.
