has a kind of Neo Geo look to it rather than SEGA but cool none the less, the netlink is in there but i assume the other slot is empty or is there a VCD card in there?

also wondering about differences / changes made on the motherboard.

if only it could be shipped to china and reproduced lol

Can you tell me more about monkfish? I had no idea he passes? Is that why he was selling everything?

Lovely unit. If you ever decide to sell it please sell it to me and the museum. It all goes to the smithsonian
    when I pass.

That's awesome! I'm curious with the low sales of the netlink and how few games supported it why Sega would make a prototype like this. I'm also curious if this meant that they had more online games planned for the future.

You would need to plan out as if it were a big seller, as it takes so long to prototype. Look at the atari jaguar / cd unit combo. There's the neptune as well.
Lots of stuff in the graveyard and usually the people making the hardware are engineers and not gamers, so the items have little importance to them.

A lot more people are gamers now, so pretty much every xbox debugger got taken home :p

    Wow amazing! Thanks for sharing.

But why did you keep it hidden for so much time?

    What's next, SEGA Jupiter? :)

Wow. Would love to see the inside to see if it differs drastically or not. Part of what killed Saturn was the high cost. After a while, console tended to get board revisions that includes consolidation components to make it smaller and cheaper. Playstation PSX shrunk a lot over many years before finally getting a small PSOne factor, and matching small price tag. Saturn used lots of chips that couldn't be consolidated easily and couldn't be offered cheaper without taking a bigger loss to Sega.

We have Saturn, we know of Neptune and now Pluto. I think we're missing Uranus not Jupiter. ;) Maybe Uranus or Jupiter is a Saturn hybrid that plays Genesis and 32X games?

SEGA Jupiter was/is (if ever existed) a cartdrige-only saturn console.
