Wow that is awesome, I have some NTSC saturn games lying around that perhaps could be borrowed . Sorry for this being my first post, but I saw a link which brought me here and I definitely plan on spending more time here!
The fact they just want clicks. I shared this thread on twitter within a few minutes of it posted. I have a few Eurogamer writers following me, surprised Eurogamer wasn't first. Anyhow, Kotaku have the worse writers...
Imagine that beauty in a glossy, white finish... It's always nice to get a chance to see these kinds of obscurities, I'm sorry to hear about your friend though.
Very sad news indeed. R.I.P. Monkfish. Auctioning those discs for charity or his family, yes, that would be a nice gesture. This is already on most game sites. Just google "Sega Pluto".
Feels like it was forever ago. By the way, I'm newer here so I can't say that I knew of Monkfish, but you have my sympathies regardless. And thank you for sharing such fantastic details! Someone may have mentioned this, but is there any chance of you having a copy of Dee Dee Planet? If yes, that's something you might want to auction off along with Geist. I'm crazy for that game, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one! And by the way, sorry for being redundant. I just read some of the previous posts and got the detail.
Thank you so much for showing us this, as it is quite common for proto holders to not even show that an item exists.
Super Magnetic, thanks again for sharing this with the community and being active in the thread. Also, it seems like you're getting a lot of press in the gaming circles so please don't stop posting now! I wonder if this has the expansion RAM built into it, that would have been a cool idea to prevent wearing out that weak cart slot on the system. But since it sounds pretty stock I would guess that it probably doesn't have something like that wired in. If you hold L or R on bootup you can get into the memory manager and maybe see the size of the onboard memory.
So sorry to hear about Monkfish. RIP. Tragic. I'm not a regular, but I fully support the idea of a charity auction benefiting Monkfish's family or some sort of brain cancer charity. Super Magnetic: Thank you so much for sharing this! It's truly awesome to see rare and unreleased things like this. I can think of other communities that aren't nearly as open with protos and stuff, so this is a wonderful, wonderful thing to see. As a fan of the history of video games, thank you! Whatever else your vault might contain, please consider sharing it! Communities like this are known to go out of their way to preserve such things. I'm sure a fundraiser would more than compensate you if you're worried about the inherent value of the unreleased items.
