It seems to me that the U.S. has passed some terrible threshold where people are proud or boastful of being under educated or ignorant.

Ignorant of common sense, spelling, minor social etiquette and manners.

Truly, I wonder how long until the world curb stomps us. I think when our wallets become empty, which is pretty soon.

Some things I have seem this month:

"she was edmidded to the hospital"

People ignorant of basic funeral rules (cutting off the procession)

People in a broken down car not even pushing it to the side of the road. Left the car in the middle of a blind turn while on phone.

"tonight they do their Ramadan rituals" thinks Muslims do "rituals"

People who think water is blue *colored* and unable to grasp why it looks blue.

Not everyone is a complete moron. Just most people. But I say bring on the dumbasses. The more stupid and miserible people are. The more potential clients I have as a theripist.

I think a lot has to do with cell phones and the advent of social media. People don't want to keep their attention on something when they have a device in front of them that lets them see/read/play next to anything. The younger we give cell phones to kids, the worst their attention spans are going to be. Which in turn causes them to be unable to learn correctly. We're already too far, it'll only get worse.

In addition, social media exposes us to more idiocracy. Maybe people have always been this stupid, we just get shown it more now because everyone feels as if they're important enough to flood their facebooks/twitters/etc. with their every ignorant thought.

But overall, you're absolutely correct. The US dollar, which was the reserve currency, is slowly being phased out in other countries. They're realizing that we just print more to cover our debts and they're fed up. So yes, whenever we face what will untimately happen it'll rattle everyone to their core.

It's not just the US either. There are some complete fucking morons in the UK too. To the point where my British friends don't disagree with me comparing England outside of London to the American deep south.

    ...
defiance is a good counter-balance to stupidity, but in the words of einstein 'the difference between genius and stupidity, is genius has it's limits'.
    ...
can't educate stupidity, trying never stopped the few...:witless:

I'm Really REALLY good at fucking with people. It's one of the reasons I got into psychology. I will say most of the people I call a "Fucking moron" on Twitter are from the UK. I'd say a little over half the people I yell at on Twitter are English or Scottish. Shockingly the most respectful and not stupid people on twitter I deal with are the teenage fans of Disney channel stars that follow me. (Believe it or not, Bella Throne follows me on on Twitter) Twitter is my litmus test I deal with stupid people on Facebook too, but the Twitter idiots are the ones that enrage me.

^^ credibility took a shit, i know first hand the kind of folks in 'psychology', NONE of them helpful, but rather, VERY dangerous and part of a nazi medical system...i digress.
    ....
    bit rich now isn't it?
taking twitter so seriously will cause trouble for yourself in the longrun.
BTW, only UK residents can knock own country/folks, unless you live here, you have NO business commenting as much as i wouldn't NEVER been to USA. (sure, i've met some real cunts, total arseholes that throws weight around just coz he's a US-GI on UK SOIL, guess how that worked out for im?! not on US soil, so can't say with accuracy. for all i know, USA folks are the soundest folks on earth, but the spiel/fearrmongering says otherwise. i'm smarter than that, you know em better that i do, one US-GI plantpot doesn't speak for ALL USA folks...vice-versa)

I'm an honorary Brit. Do you need my letter from the Queen?

There's nothing wrong with Psychology, The more I study the more I find merit to it. My Cousin would be Freud's wet dream.

It's probably worse in the US because we were raised to believe that we're the greatest country EVA! There's patritosim and pride, then there's letting the country's propaganda cause you to turn a blind eye to your country's blatant inconsistencies. Somehow people think that just because they're from America that gives them a free pass to do/say or not do/say whatever they want. That includes being respectful and educated.

One of the reasons I am against religion more & more everyday, as well. It sickens me. Believing in something without evidence is unhealthy & dangerous.

I'd give you my reasoning for why there's a god but that's a whole different thread right there. No morality or "Bible says so" but a logical argument.

The USA has low academic achievement for a first world country. Many European nations have surpassed them, and if you look on what countries spend with tax revenue you see the consequences. America pours tons into the military instead of school funds, and some Europeans spend less on defense and a large amount on education.
Mind giving us some examples of what you can do with your psychology knowledge? You mentioned Freud, but he's widely been discredited now.

I'm the same, I was brought up in a religion following family, but I honestly never took it seriously and still don't. I don't consider myself a non-believer or a believer, I just don't care.

I heard a story on TV that this father is denying medical treatment for his daughter because he thinks praying will heal her. She had a bad case of cancer (not sure which one now). I hope that idiot goes to jail for child neglect.

Stupidity doesn't end in the US, there's a fair share of them on the road daily :p

I wouldn't say people are any stupider than before, just that people are exposed to more stupidity thanks to the Internet. Speaking of the Internet, one thing that I do hate about people today is how few bother to actually fact check anything or learn about a subject even though they have so much information available to them - instead they choose to parrot whatever they hear from someone that doesn't know anything.

Religion is bullshit, but nationalism is worse...

There is no logical argument as your god is simply based on faith.

It would be a argument from ignorance.
