http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/10/05/idUS242893159420111005 ...either after this season or after only one additional season. I say good riddance since the show hasn't been good since season 9 or 10, but how absurd/strangely appropriate is it that it's not being cancelled because it sucks, but because Fox wants to cut the voice actors' salary?
As one who has watched the show since its inception, I can honestly say I won't be broken up about a possible cancellation. To me, the show peeked around season 7 or 8 and hasn't really gotten any better since.
It lost it's edge well over a decade ago, and when it had it's edge it was definitely a lot cheaper to produce and much more profitable for the network. The show doesn't really do anything outside of advertising, referencing pop culture, and the usual cliches.
PRAISE THE LORD! The simpsons needs to end it's an embassment to it self. All the good episodes since season 10 could probably be combined into 1 or 2 seasons.
I just wonder what exactly happened between seasons 10 and 11...I mean, looking at the episode lists on Wikipedia at least half of season 10 is good or at least watchable, but season 11 not only has more bad episodes than good ones, but the bad ones are some of the worst ever.
The show has been MEH longer than it was good and just think of how much crap the show has put it if in the 17 seasons since the show started going down hill all the good episodes made in that time would only be enough for 1-2 seasons. That's alot of complete shit.
I would say the real simpson lasted 11, 12 seasons. From season 13 till today only a handful of episodes can be considered good. It's a shame it didn't ended decently.
It is embarrassing to watch now. It's a about time it is cancelled. I've just bought Seasons 1-10, and I'm halfway through Season 1.. the difference between then and now is stark. I agree with 7force- between 10 and 11, someone accidentally pressed the bullshit switch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fmsUrB4p5g This is a perfect demonstration of what crap the Simpsons has become.
17 seasons? The current season is number 23, so either you're saying that the show hasn't been good since season 6 (which I just can't agree with) or you just don't know how many seasons there are. And I read a post on another forum pointing out that they're watching The Simpsons on the airplane in Die Hard 2. Holy crap, this show has really been around for a long time.
http://www.tmz.com/2011/10/07/simpsons-fox-contract-negotiations/#.To-0m7JALus The show won't get cancelled and it'll get two additional seasons, but anything past the 25th season is uncertain.
DAMN IT!! =( Just kill it and let MG make a new show to replace it (But not futurama, new stuff is good but not on par with old stuff).
Practically every joke falls flat now. The writing is painfully bad. I used to tune in out of habit and leave it on as background noise, but dont do even that anymore. Mr. Burns is a shell of his former self.
I disagree. New Futurama is far better than Old Futurama. And that's saying a lot considering how GOOD Old Futurama is. The Futurama continuation is the RIGHT way to continue a show.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bps-xbo8wnA I fully agree with you on that. It's a shame that Phil Hartman's voice couldn't save Blasto.
13 years then It's been of questionable quality from Season 11 on although once you get to around 2005 it's REALLY iffy
