    Could someone help me out with this?
    Thanks!

    Hi AleffCorrea,

    Here's a quick translation of the scans you posted. I'm afraid I'm not overly familiar with Nausicaa,
    so some of the terms might be off. For example, I had no idea what "Dokuro" meant,
    so left it romanised for now:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    <First Pic>
    Game Instructions Key Commands
    Nausicaa's Movements 1 Left, 5 Up, 2 Down, 3 Right
    A: Open, Lift, Strike S: Close, Drop, Cut
    Gun Shop (Möwe) 1 Left - 3 Right
    A: Accelerate S: Slow Down
    1st Game: Find Möwe(Sky Glider). Also, try to locate other
    items like the Sea of Decay mask, knife and hat.

    To First-Timer Players,

    Try pressing and holding "A" and "1" at the same time
    Depending on where you're standing, press A can open doors.
    Once a door has been opened, quickly release A.
    Choose the things you need.
    Keep A held down to pick up any item in the lower right,
    even the ones you don't need.

    If you're asked what you need: A = Need, S = Don't Need.
    Once an item has been picked up, it cannot be dropped.
    Take as many items as you needle, but pick up two or
    three "Dokuro" and Nausicaa will die.
    You cannot fly when holding more than five items.

    For vertical routes, stand at the bottom and press 5.
    Press 5 again if you stop.
    Several villages can be traversed vertically.
    Proceed along horizontal routes with 1 - 3.

    Start the game by pressing the Return key.

    <Second Pic>
    Fly to the Sea of Decay
    Distance from here: 1800
    Good luck!
    The arrows show wind direction
    Press A to get started
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Let me know if you have any questions.

    Cheers!

    Hi Vosse,

    Here's a quick translation of the piece you posted. Again, not really my field of expertise, but hopefully you'll get something out of it:

    ------------------------------------------
    Additionally, for the noticeable jagged edges, post-processing FXAA anti-aliasing, using multi-sampling (MSAA),
    was applied, and blur effects with depth-of-field (DoF) were implemented for natural-looking edges. Take hair
    for example, even body hair had significant amounts of post-processing applied to it.
    ------------------------------------------

    Cheers!

    Hey thanks!

    I had used an online auto translate. But it was a bit jibberish and I couldn't understand whether they were using MSAA or FXAA. Or both.

    Now it sounds like they are using MSAA for sub pixel detail like the hair(Specific pass of FXAA just for certain elements? That's pretty cool IMO!) as well MSAA for geometry and DOF for focus and AA of stuff like the hair!

    Thanks again :)

    Could someone translate this, please?

    Also a quick translation in appreciated since it's quite long, the first part is the most important, parameters explanation comes after.Thanks in advance.

    [概要]
    このデバイスドライバーはFM-TOWNS,FM-Rで以下の機能を追加するものです。

    外付けCD-ROMドライブで、CD-DA部の再生を可能にする。
    Q:に割り当てるドライブをリセットせずに切り換えられるようにする。

    [機能の説明]
     TOWNSにはSCSIでCD-ROMドライブを増設することができますが、TOWNS OS 上
    のCD PlayerやゲームはCD-DA部の再生にBIOSコールを使用しているため、外付

    /O:0 とするとVer.0.1互換となります。
    デフォルトは2。

    /U:<VISIBLE UNIT>
     MSCDEXで登録されるドライブ数。
    デフォルトは実ドライブ数+仮想ドライブ数。

    /V[:<VOLUME MODE>]
     LINE INと内蔵CDの電子ボリュームのコントロールを有効にする。
    デフォルトでは電子ボリュームのコントロール機能は無効。
    <VOLUME MODE>
    0: 電子ボリュームコントロール機能OFF。

    Hi caius,

    I meant to return this sooner, but I've been rather busy over the past week or so:

    ======================================================================

    FM-TOWNS, FM-R Internal/External CD-ROM Drive Controller
    CDISC2.SYS Ver. 0.9

    Copyright(C) 1995-1998 Kato Takeo

    ======================================================================
    [Overview]
    This device driver adds the following functions to FM-TOWNS, FM-R:

    CD-DA play back now possible via an external CD-ROM drive
    The drive associated with Q: can now be switched without the need to reset.

    [Function Instructions]
     Although TOWNS allows for SCSI drives to be added, because the TOWNS OS uses a BIOS call for CD-DA playback in the CD Player or for games, CD-DA playback is not possible via an external CD-ROM drive.
     This device driver (CDISC2.SYS) traps the CD-ROM BIOS on FM-R/FM-TOWNS machines and changes the DOS function call to allow for CD-DA playback via an external CD-ROM drive.
    Also, by making Q: a virtual drive, it can now be assigned with a switched drive without the need to reset. TOWNS applications largely rely on the CD-ROM drive being fixed as Q: which means that assigning it to something else can lead to them not functioning as intended. Many of these problems can be solved by using CDISC2.SYS.

    In the event of the internal CD-ROM drive ceasing to function, CDISC2.SYS will allow an external SCSI drive to be used as a replacement.

    [How to Use]
      Register either CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT.
     Up to 3 devices can be used (including internal and external CD-ROM drives) as well as a CD-ROM changer.

    CONFIG.SYS:
    DEVICE=CDISC2.SYS [/N:<NEW DRIVE NAME>] [/O:<UNIT OFFSET>]
    [/D:<CD DRIVE NAME>] [/U:<VISIBLE UNIT>]
    [/V[:<VOLUME MODE>]] [/W:<WAIT LOOPS>]
    [/S:<SCSI CD DRIVE NAME>] [/T:<TOWNS CD DRIVE NAME>]
    [/F:<PLAY FRAME OFFSET>]
    AUTOEXEC.BAT:
    MSCDEX.EXE /D:<NEW DRIVE NAME>

     Switching the playback drive is handled according the the CD-ROM drive being accessed. For playback via the CD PLAYER included in TOWNS OS, CD-DA will be played back via the most recently accessed CD-ROM drive
    This is the same for drives assigned as Q:. Q: will redirect to the most recently accessed drive. Additionally, switching can be performed using the following command:

    ECHO <DRIVE NUMBER> > <NEW DIRVE NAME>

    [Options]
    /D:<CD DRIVE NAME>
    The drive name can be designated using the CD-ROM device driver. Use this option to designate the names for both internal TOWNS CD-ROM drives and external SCSI drives. Drives are designated in the order specified by /D.
    TOWNS OS is based on MS-DOS Ver. 3.1 and names the internal CD-ROM drive TOWNS CD.
    If /D causes the software to freeze, or CD-DA to not play, please try /S or /T instead.
    /N:<NEW DRIVE NAME>
     Newly defined drive name. Use the AUTOEXEC.BAT or MSCDEX.EXE /D option here to designate the drive name.
     CDROM is the default.

    /O:<UNIT OFFSET>
     The start number offset value for the CDISC2.SYS real drive (= no. virtual drives).
    Use /O:0 for compatibility with Ver. 0.1.
    2 is the default.

    /U:<VISIBLE UNIT>
     No. drives registered in MSCDEX.
    No. real drives + No. virtual drives is the default.

    /V[:<VOLUME MODE>]
     Enables the LINE IN and internal CD volume controls.
    The volume-control option is disabled by default.
    <VOLUME MODE>

    0: Volume-control function OFF.
    1: Synchronise the LINE IN and internal CD volume controls.
    2: Set the LINE IN and internal CD volume to always be at maximum.
    When [:<VOLUME MODE>] is abbreviated, it will be 1.

    /W:<WAIT LOOPS>)
    In compatibility mode, <WAIT LOOPS>μs is applied every 10ms. Use this command if the compatibility mode speeds up as CPU switching speeds up. Using 1000 will result in an approximate slowdown of 10%. (Waiting is not applied during high-speed mode.)

    * Please do not use the following options under normal usage.

    /S:<SCSI CD DRIVE NAME>
     Designate the drive with the same name as the current one using the SCSI CD drive device driver.

    /T:<TOWNS CD DRIVE NAME>
    The name of the TOWNS internal CD-ROM drive. The name is set according to the CDDRV.SYS /D option in MS-DOS Ver. 6.2. In the MS-DOS Ver. 3.1 base of TOWNS OS, it is called TOWNS_CD.

    /F:<PLAY FRAME OFFSET>
    Frame-offset value during playback.
    When the previous track is momentarily selected in the designated CD driveand neither the intro scan or tracks from no. 2 onwards won’t play, set this to a value of between 0 to 150. The default is 150.

    [Command Line Control]
    The redirect for switching drives can be done via the command line as follows:

    ECHO <DRIVE NUMBER> > <NEW DIRVE NAME>
    ECHO D <DRIVE NUMBER> > <NEW DIRVE NAME>

    FRAME OFFSET, VOLUME MODE and WAIT LOOPS can be adjusted as well.

    ECHO F <FRAME OFFSET> > <NEW DIRVE NAME>
    ECHO V <VOLUME MODE> > <NEW DIRVE NAME>
    ECHO W <WAIT LOOPS> > <NEW DIRVE NAME>

    [Example Settings #1]
    CONFIG.SYS:
    ....
    DEVICE=\DOS\CDDRV.SYS <---; Must be CDISC2.SYS
    DEVICE=\DOS\CDISC.SYS <---; Enter this before.
    DEVICE=CDSD.SYS /I:5 /D:SCSI_CD <---;
    ....
    DEVICE=CDISC2.SYS /D:TOWNS_CD /D:SCSI_CD /N:CDROM /O:2
    .... ^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^ <--- Changing this will switch the order of the drives.
    AUTOEXEC.BAT:
    ....
    MSCDEX.EXE /D:CDROM /K /M:8 /L:Q
    ....

    Under this setting, the internal drive is S, the external is T and the virtual drives are Q and R, respectively. If Q has been set to either S or T, a redirect will access the most recently used drive instead. R will not redirect, and will appear as “Not Ready”.

    For Towns-Menu (V2.1L31 and above?), because S and T show up as network drives, a simple mouse-click is enough to redirect Q.

    [Example Settings #2]
    CONFIG.SYS:
    ....
    DEVICE=\DOS\CDDRV.SYS <---; Must be CDISC2.SYS
    DEVICE=\DOS\CDISC.SYS <---; Enter this before
    DEVICE=CDSD.SYS /I:5 /D:SCSI_CD <---;
    ....
    DEVICE=CDISC2.SYS /D:TOWNS_CD /D:SCSI_CD /N:CDROM /O:2 /U:2
    ....

    AUTOEXEC.BAT:
    ....
    MSCDEX.EXE /D:CDROM /D:TOWNS_CD /D:SCSI_CD /K /M:8 /L:Q
    ....

    Under this setting, the internal drive is S, the external is T and the virtual drives are Q and R, respectively, but attempts to access S or T will not change the redirect for Q.
    To change the redirect destination, please use the command line input below:

    To redirect the internal CD-ROM drive (TOWNS_CD):

    ECHO 0 > CDROM

    To redirect the external CD-ROM drive (SCSI_CD):

    ECHO 1 > CDROM

    [When not Working]
     There’s a possibility it could be due to a CD-ROM drive and driver incompatibility, but before coming to that conclusion, check the following:

    1. Ensure that either the internal CD-ROM driver (CDISC.SYS, CDDRV.SYS) or external CD-ROM driver (CDSD.SYS, etc.) has been included in the row before CONFIG.SYS and CDISC2.SYS.

    2. For TOWNS OS using MS-DOS Ver. 3.1 as a base, check whether CONFIG.SYS is present on the second row of the unnecessary…
    DEVICE=CDDRV.SYS
    DEVICE=CDISC.SYS

    3. Is the name assigned for CDISC2.SYS /D/S/T/N already in use?
    Are the names assigned via CDISC2. SYS /D/S/T/N unified with the device-driver names?
    Is the name assigned via CDISC2. SYS /N unified with MSCDEX.EXE/D?

    4. Are there two or more /L options in MSCDEX.EXE? Or is there an additional option after >NUL?

    5. Depending on the application, some crashes can occur if a CD-ROM (or audio CD) is present (or not present when necessary) inside the CD-ROM drive during operations. Please remove the CD-ROM (or audio CD) (or insert it) and try running the application again.

    [Additional Information]
    During the BIOS call, the CH register is FFh and FEh. Expanded function calls are not supported.

    ======================================================================

    It might be a bit rough around the edges, but hopefully makes sense to those in the know, such as yourself.

    I noticed that "DRIVE" is spelled "DIRVE" in several places, but I'm guessing that was there in the source material too, right?

    Drop me a line if you need anything else.

    Cheers!

    Hi djandy76,
    thank you so much for your big effort!
    I was'n't hoping anymore about this translation since it was very long (me bad..)
    It's perfect as is and yes 'DIRVE' is the usual "engrished" version of 'DRIVE'
    Only a doubt about this:

    CONFIG.SYS:
    ....
    DEVICE=\DOS\CDDRV.SYS <---; Must be CDISC2.SYS
    DEVICE=\DOS\CDISC.SYS <---; Enter this before

    It means I have to change in this way?:

    CONFIG.SYS:
    ....
    DEVICE=\DOS\CDISC.SYS
    DEVICE=\DOS\ CDISC2.SYS

    How would be in japanese the reference to the first edition of something? original edition? first edition?
    What's the most common way to use it?

    Can anyone give me an idea?

    @caius
    Sorry, but I'm not entirely sure, but the literal Japanese here would be:

    ------------------
    これらは必ずCDISC2.SYS
    "These should definitely be CDISC2.SYS"
    ------------------

    @Fandangos
    Can you be a bit more specific? Here are some general translations used for books, for example:

    ------------------
    初版 or 第一版 = First edition
    第二版 = Second edition
    第三版 = Third edition
    ------------------

    For magazines and other media published monthly though, you tend to see the following more:

    ------------------
    1月号 = January edition
    2月号 = February edition
    3月号 = March edition
    ...and so on...
    ------------------

    Finally, for games, you see a lot of these:

    ------------------
    初回版 = Initial release
    復活版 = Re-release
    ------------------

    Cheers!

    It would be fantastic if someone could check this kanji for me.

    I'm not completely sure how this kanji is to be read when it's written just by itself "変変!!" (very strange?) and this "らんすうの異常" (out of the ordinary/abnormal values/ideals? Something like that?)

    Thank you very much.

    I've been looking at some consoles on Yahoo advertised as "junk" and have come over this phrase quite a bit: "DVDは観れましたが、ゲームが不可でした。". Would you consider this to mean that they haven't found a game to test it with or that it has been tested with a games and doesn't work?

    Thanks

    I am hoping that an expert can take a look at the following original Japanese article and my translation of it (which took me MANY hours to make using translation software programs and various online sources) and either confirm that everything is translated accurately or else let me know what necessary corrections need to be made. Thanks.

    Sorry for this! I just missed your reply during all this time.
    I was actually curious to find for how much the original first issue of the Dragon Ball manga goes for on japan.

    I believe this would be the most appropriate during my searchs 初版

    @Fandangos,

    No worries!

    Had I known you were after the first issue of a manga, I would've recommended searching for "ドラゴンボール 第01巻" instead, which is literally "Dragon Ball Vol. 1".

    @Marmotta

    I'd say it reads something like this:

    ------------------------------------
    "DVDは観れましたが、ゲームは不可でした。"
    "DVDs played properly, but games didn't."
    ------------------------------------

    If I understand it correctly, I think the user has actually tried running games on the unit(s), but confirmed they don't work.

    Cheers!

    Here's my take on the Japanese for your consideration:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Race (Working Title)

    Nintendo Price/Release/Capacity: TBD

    A racing game where obstacles and rival cars come hurtling towards you from
    left and right. Features a better view of the course ahead than other games in the
    genre.
    Unrivaled detailed on the billboards when you turn corners - truly spectacular!

    There's nothing like racing in 3D!

    The most stereoscopic image yet shown!

    POP-OUT BILLBOARDS!!
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Cheers!
