    Thank you very much for the quick response!

    As a follow-up:

    This article appeared in a magazine as a sub-article, along with other sub-articles that revealed upcoming games for the Virtual Boy. Also, this article contained standard magazine images, so no pop-out images whose effect could be seen with 3D glasses or something.

    With this in mind, do you agree that "most stereoscopic" refers to the game itself (while being played on a Virtual Boy) and not to the image that appears on the magazine page, and therefore, it should read "The most stereoscopic game yet shown"?

    @BenjaminStevens

    It's quite difficult to be 100% precise with that piece of text due to the nature of the source Japanese. A very literal translation would be along the lines of:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    "Out of everything shown this time, it's the most stereoscopic!"
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    As you can see, both "everything shown" and "this time" are highly ambiguous and could refer to every "every game shown", or perhaps "every screen shown". I chose my wording as it could relate to either - the image in the magazine, i.e. the screen shot, or the image output on the user's TV/monitor itself. However, now I think about it, you've got a point about using "stereoscopic" here as there's no way the magazine would include actual 3D screen shots!

    In light of this, you might want to update the translation and use this instead (not literal, but should get the point across):

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    "The best example of 3D so far!"
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Cheers!

    Thanks. I plan to post the updated, translated article in a forum thread at Planet Virtual Boy and credit you with the translation, so I wanted to make sure that it was as you would have it.

    Thanks very much!

    It's quite a coincidence actually, as I'm off to Japan in a couple of weeks for work, but plan to spend some time poking around in the local backwater video-game shops for Virtual Boy (and Wonder Swan) stuff!

    Anyway, drop me a line if you need anything else translated.

    Cheers!

    @Lamont

    I missed your post from a short while ago, but here are some thoughts on the two pieces of text you mentioned:

    ---------------------------------------------------
    <変変>
    This one has got me stumped! If it's a real Japanese word, I've certainly never heard of it before. If the intention was to emphasis something being extra "strange", I can think of numerous ways to say so, but this wouldn't be one of them. It crops up here and there as usernames, but also appears to have some Chinese connections too. Do you have any additional context?

    <らんすう(乱数)の異常>
    Initially, I thought it could be something like "random-number anomaly", or "random-number glitch", but then it occurred to me that the "らんすう" part might actually be referring to "欄数", as in "number of columns/rows". As above, do you have any additional context?
    ---------------------------------------------------

    Let me know if you have any further thoughts on either point.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

    Thank you for that, I had forgotten to edit it out as I had ended up figuring it out - when we dumped all of the text from a PS1 game, it had included some debug error text in it that isn't typically displayed in-game but it was mixed in as the text wasn't organized per room file and instead of commenting on things, for some reason one of the debuggers' has left error messages within the text that would be displayed on-screen instead of the typical method.

    Mainly the errors were regarding some of the randomization values and some rooms (a few of which are randomized) not loading correctly but the game typically resets itself should that happen so I'm not quite sure why the debug text was left in there in that manner.

    ポケスタ is something along the lines of Pokémon Stadium, right? How exactly does that break down?

    @Zoinkity

    You're correct, it's just an abbreviated version of "Pokémon Stadium". Here's how it breaks down:

    ポケスタ = Pokesuta
    ポケ = Poke (Pokémon)
    スタ = Suta (Stadium)

    Hope that helps!

    Hi piplup10036,

    Here's a quick translation of those screens:

    ----------------------------------
    <Top Image>
    たたかう = Fight
    オート = Auto
    こうしょう = Negotiate
    にげる = Run (away)
    ステータス = Status

    クール = "Cool"
    アルケニー = "Alcheni"

    <Bottom Image>
    こうげき = Attack
    リピート = Repeat

    クール = "Cool"
    アルケニー = "Alcheni"
    ----------------------------------

    Please note that, "Cool" and "Alcheni" appear to be names despite the different character graphics on display in each screen.

    Cheers!

    Checking my translation here. "あの子が生まれた。" would translate as "That child that was born.", correct? Thanks!
