The very last production run of XBOX

Hi there, still new the the Xbox scene. I understand that MS killed off production of the XBOX once 360 took off. Thus this got me wondering, what was the last production run of xbox? Have anyone own or seen the 2005-2006 xbox console, if so... my guess is that the mainboard will be v1.6 but what about the DVD drive? Is it the Philips 6035/21 model or the Samsung 605B? *Reason being is that, it is known in the later stages of xbox where the dvd drives are being replaced with better disc reading (CDR/CDRW/DVDR).

So i will have to trouble fellow peeps, to check if yours are those of the "final" production run of xboxes~

my xbox is hybrid of several - the MB is the original one with Enigmah chip I soldered and the DVD drive is the Samsung unit and they are all housed inside the Halo edition clear green case with 220-240VAC power board. All in all about 4 xbox consoles sacrificed to build this one although two were junk for parts and the 3rd one was the Halo Edition. ^ ^

 

wow! 4 for one. Just asking do most of the Xbox rust easily? I saw a couple of xboxs with rusting by the grills. Seems common, my guess is the material involved?

the ones I've seen were fine in terms of rusting. they were just dusty - very dusty~

I believe the very final XBOX systems have LG-Hitachi DVD ROMs with Seagate drives.

 

This. Same as the 360 first batch I think.

 

Also on the topic of Philips drives they were in the late production run of 1.1 systems. 1.0 I believe had Thompson drives. Just from what I've read never owned a v1.0 only a 1.1, and bunch of 1.6 and 1.6b.

 

I've had a 1.0 with a thompson, a crystal 1.6 with an lg and a black 1.5/1.6 with a phillips

 

When I cought my second brand new sealed system back in the day it was a 1.6 with a Thompson

Crystal pack systems are 1.6b most likely.

 

Ok, Decided to go on a $50 spending spree...... went to the local gamestore and asked do they still have some of the xbox1 available. She said she have afew set with issues and untested. I notice they also have some 60gb 1st gen BC ps3 used on the shelve. but she claims these are customer returns and have no used for it.

I make an offer of $50 to aquire these "faulty" and untested sets.

My 1.6 prototype has a Phillips drive inside unlike most 1.6 production models.

 

kyo86sg have you opened the 2005 system up?

 

From personal experience can I confirm this. And dear goddess, they suck. (At least mine did.)

 

im pretty sure mine is a 1.0 not sure which drive is in it as i didnt pay much attention when i had it open but i've had no problems with the drive ever, its only started not opening due to the rubber belt being dirty from age dust and usage. a clean should sort that out i'll do it when i can be annoyed or am bored enough lol.

 

Hey, sorry just got back and aquired a used black label NTSC J copy of splinter cell. I tried turning on the 2005 set and IT WORKS, but YLOD for the PS3 units!!! 2005 unit DVD reads everything i throw at it, i am guessing it could be the LG drive. *This is to be confirmed until I perform a softmod and run XBMC on it after next week.


Not going to pop out the system anytime soon... got my thesis submission next tuesday and got to discipline myself.
