I've tried to get a hold of a game called "Saga: Rage of the Vikings" for some time now. Apparently it was a Age of Empires lookalike but with Viking theme. Anyone heard of it?

if any one wants to read a good viking book. Then you should read Røde Orm which is known in English by the name of "The Vikings") (or The Longships) and the writer is Frans G. Bengtsson . Røde Orm/Röde Orm means Red Worm/Snake. So it looks like The Longships has been made into a film long ago.

but it is VERY vaguely based on the books.

Yeah, but they are so fucking inaccurate with their clothing. And the horns are making me fucking irritated. That so-called Viking looks between an idiot and a caveman. The Vikings , they had woollen cloths, and their sea wearing cloths , has a better insulation than modern equivalent sea faring cloths has today. Fuck Snickers ! ! ! I am tired of seeing that bullshit.
Sorry that I sound like I am in a bad mood. But the Vikings deserve more respect than that. They navigated with a sun compass which didn´t have any inconsistencies like the magnetic compass has.

here are the pictures of that compass.

here is a modern drawing of the complete Viking compass. Sorry if the drawing is too small.

Sorry Mr. Casual, but the Vikings are a part of my heritage. And I am proud of that.

Well, I saw a documentary about it on DR2. Which I believe you can see in Sweden. But I am not certain, but damn you probably have the best historic documentaries over there. DR had to buy some of them (which they have done by the way) about our mutual bronze age , the petroglyps , and about our jættestue / ganggrav / Gånggrift / passage grave cultures.
Some of the things were already in Danish by the scientists who were interviewed to the Swedish documentary. The rest was just redubbed, but I loved the Swedish version. Which my father recorded from Swedish television. Thank goodness, our languages are so damn close to eachother.
And thank goodness, we don´t wage wars between eachother anymore either. But it seems to me, us Scandinavians writes the noun Viking without any kind of capitalisation , but in English (or at my spell checker ) there it insists on using a BIG V when you write the noun. Strange, since Viking is not a "proper noun". it is just plain and simple a noun.

Christer check "rage of vikings torrent" on google. Maybe that will help you a LOT in your search of that stuff.

My Dad was in a band called The Vikings back in the 60s! They did a publicity shot by the Viking longboat Hugin in Pegwell Bay, Kent. It is a replica longboat...

The local ferries, before the service was stopped, were named Hengist and Horsa after the Vikings.
