Went to the midnight showing of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace 3D.

All I gotta say is, "NOW THIS IS PODRACING!"

Been watching three episodes of the Simpsons' 23rd season lately after about 2 years that I haven't followed the show at all.

What can I say? Please let that show die already. Everything about it is awful at this point... the storylines (makes you wonder what jackasses they spend their budget on), the references (basically just product placement, lacking any humor), the pathetic style (cheesy music sequences that are not funny at all)... oh my God. I am terrified.
But what really makes me wonder is how the show can survive under those circumstances. Every other current animated comedy show I know is funnier.

I pretty much stopped watching the Simpsons after seeing the episode where Homer frames Marge for drunk driving. It just seemed like the perfect example of something that could've never happened in the earlier episodes: Homer may have been an idiot, but he cared about his family and would've done anything to support them, making him a likeable character. Then in the later seasons he was turned into a completely unlikable self-centered asshole.

All the characters evolved in weird ways. Bart became either all awkwardly emotional or totally crazy and doesn't behave like a 10yr old anymore. It's a far way from that little boy that shot the bird.

Lisa isn't a child anymore like earlier episodes still suggested (she being in need of her parents as role models). Now she behaves like a 25yr old intellectual hipster that knows everything, including life experience. What the fuck? O
In one of the latest episodes from season 23 she dates an elitist, rich, educated guy (an 8-year old Lol) and in the end she's disappointed in him because he behaves like a douche when it counts.
What a blatant rip off of two earlier episodes, one being a future story. I couldn't believe they did this again. What are scriptwriters paid for? Certainly not for writing something that HAS BEEN THERE TWO TIMES ALREADY IN THE SAME SHOW.

I used to love this show, and I still like the first 7 seasons or so. I just watched every episode at least 20+ times, so it's not much fun anymore, but what I just saw fucked my mind. How can a show become so shitty? Family Guy, South Park, they all manage to have good gags. And the Simpsons probably have an even bigger budget and still suck.

When Simpsons is on FOX, i always check the EPG to see what season the episode is from. Anything from Season 14 or after i simply don't watch.

Indeed the Simpsons have stooped pretty low. I never watched the show a lot, but when an episode turns up on tv I usually stay and I'm entertained. I've seen a few episodes from the last seasons and it seems like the characters are turning into, like you said, caricatures of themselves. They should just leave it at that in my opinion, like they did with 24, and end it while there's still time (although you might say they should already have ended it a while ago). I guess there's still an audience for it... Otherwise why would they keep it going ?

On a different topic, does anyone here watches Adult Swim ? I've known and loved Space Ghost Coast to Coast for quite a while (just look on the left) but I had never watched any of the other shows from the line up, apart from a couple of Sealab 2021 and The Brak Show episodes here and there (which are two series I love as well). I've decided to watch some of the other shows, but as of now it's hit and miss : Frisky Dingo I thought was really great, I didn't want to watch it before because of the art style (which didn't appeal to me all that much) but it had a lot of incredibly funny moments and such utterly ludicrous situations it was really enjoyable, albeit too short (and ends on an unresolved cliffhanger, of course) ; Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law is also quite funny, haven't seen a lot of episodes but the concept is hilarious and I like the directions they take with it... The other stuff I've seen I find either pretty dull or borderline-excruciatingly bad : Aqua Teen Hunger Force is not all that fun and failed to keep my interest most of the time (I wonder if it's worth to keep going ... thoughts ?) ; Superjail is gore for the sake of gore, has extremely limited appeal outside from that, and it's not particularly funny either ; Squidbillies I found nearly unwatchable... Anyone have recommendations of other shows to watch/avoid outside of these ones ?

At this point it just feels weird that the characters have never aged, considering how Bart and Lisa are only 10 and 8, but now they always have plots that would require them to at least be teenagers.

Yeah, but what episode in the past 10 years hasn't either been a ripoff of an old one or had some kind of marriage crisis between Homer and Marge? (why do the writers still consider that shocking when it's happened a billion times already, and it's not like Marge is ever gonna leave Homer?)

Family Guy has good gags? Granted, I haven't watched an episode in several years, but mostly I just remember there being references to things instead of actual jokes, because remember this thing? It's from the 80s, doesn't that make it funny? "Optimus Prime is Jewish LOL!" How is that a joke that makes any kind of sense or is funny in any way?

I know there's a lot of hate for Family Guy and while I don't think it's the most original animated sitcom (certainly not, lol), I find it a lot funnier than current Simpsons episodes. The jokes might be totally random (as Cartman pointed out), but at least there are some humorous observations that make it entertaining. Something the Simpsons seem to have cut out of the show for ages, now it's just Homer being a jackass.

I just think "random" humor isn't funny at all, and it's probably the laziest kind of comedy writing I can think of. Then again, apparently someone has changed the meaning of comedy, considering how many people on the Internet think an endless stream of shitty "le" comics is hilarious.

9gag and to an extent reddit are responsible for the death of funny memes. 9Gag steals every comic/remotely funny picture and a fair few unfunny pictures (The Watson -rf/rm img I first saw there and didn't understand). It caters to the absolute worst of the internet users. The users that laugh at "geeky things". There was nothing funny about the watson img. Reddit I blame because they don't actively take a stand. They repost everything getting the whore of a website that 9gag is more attention

9Gag is this decades version of ebaumsworld and I'd be quite frankly be happy to see them both go.

Some meme pictures are admittedly funny, but any of the comics that start with "le me derping" or whatever about some mundane thing are the worst crap ever. And fuck the current Internet trend of "geek culture" being cool, which really boils down to making shitty sub-Family Guy references to so-called geeky things ("HEY I MADE A PICTURE OF MARIO WITH SODA CAN BOXES ISN'T THAT AWESOME?" "LOL! OMG YES, EPIC WIN! I AM SUCH A GEEK!")

derp and derpina lol epic win!1!

That's something I hate Reddit for being a prime source of creating. The "le" comics are terrible. Just the most mundane shit is somehow humor.

Geeksaresexy, a casual geek website I check reguarly stays clear of the derpina crap and posts good fanmade or from real website comics, as well as some some real tech related stuff isn't too bad.

Watched a midnight showing of 'Project X' last night. Ridiculous, over the top, but in a weird way I kinda almost liked it...

    Gotta love Korean dramas.
Halfway through 'Mary Stayed Out All Night'. Not sure if I like it as much as 'Protect the Boss', but it's still pretty good.

Haha, not at all man! It's about a sick party that turns into ridiculous shit. The first 2/3 of the trailer on YouTube are bewildering, the rest of it turns the idea into a turd. Still, fun, I guess. Haven't watched it yet and won't pay for it either, I'll wait until it's on TV or so.
