Really? What about the Michael Jackson episode, the Thelma & Louise parody, the self-help speech parody, the Treehouse of Horror with Bob Dole and Bill Clinton or the X-Files parody?

How is an episode about Thelma & Louise, the X-Files or Bob Dole & Bill Clinton anywhere close to what South Park does? I wasn't exaggerating when I said an event can be happening on 1st of March and be referred to in South Park a week later. The Simpsons are just picking up general trends and have a considerable lag - of course it's taking a lot longer to make a Simpsons episode than a South Park episode. Still, I think it's just another concept so the two can't really be compared...

Everyone PLEASE go watch "Cabin in the Woods". It's the most ridiculously awesome movie you've seen in a while. Trust me, a random stranger on the internet, it's AWESOME.

Watched Number 4 and Man on a Ledge.

Didn't like Number 4... poor acting, and the story could have been much better.

Man on a Ledge on the other side was pretty cool, though quite predictable.

What can I say... Loved it! Crazy as many other Japanese movies I've seen, but that's what makes these special!
Had it on DVD for a couple of years but somehow never had the opportunity to watch it before.

I watched Cabin in the Woods (2012) yesterday in the theatre!

This movie is a first class trash fest! I haven't read anything about the storyline prior to watching the movie and this is what I recommend to anyone who is tempted to go! DON'T READ ABOUT THE STORY! The movie has a really surprising twist (pretty much in the beginning even) which I haven't seen done this way before.
Basically it's kind of an unusual parody of horror movies but nowhere near as straightforward as Scary Movie. It starts off as a mix of TCM and Evil Dead but later on it refers to a variety of horror classics and cliches! The teenagers are of course complete archetypes of horror movie victims: the athlete, slut, pothead etc.

There's a nice amount of subtle humor and satire in it. When the trap door in the cabin slammed open all by itself, they immediately commented "The wind must've blown it open!!!" without anyone ever doubting it [IMG]

It's like this on purpose, it's not just involuntarily funny. There are tons of references to classics such as Shining, Hellraiser, Ju-On, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, Cube, etc etc!

The idea is really fresh and I'd definitey recommend it to any horror fan. If you are into horror movies, especially the teenage slasher classics like TCM, Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, then you'll find a lot of nicely implemented references. Don't expect a "teenagers goin to the woods and getting killed funnily" movie cause that's not how this parody works - the storyline pushes the irony and satire far beyond this. It's not perfect and I think the ending was kinda unfulfilling, but I think it's a pearl in the horror parody genre.

YESSSS, Cabin was just straight up fun and awesome! My friends and I were talking about that movie for days after we saw it!

A couple days ago, I watched 'Battle Royale' for the very first time. And all i can say is, the more I think about the 'Hunger Games' movie, the more i realize it was absolutely god-awful in comparison to 'Battle Royale'. 'Battle Royale' was everything I wanted to 'Hunger Games' to be and so much more. Loved it.

Last week? Sneak preview? I'll watch it tomorrow and although I hate Spiderman, X-Men and all that stuff, I'm quite excited. Maybe it's just because this is the first real 3D movie that I'll watch with contacts (3D movies with glasses suck if you already wear glasses beneath them), but I feel like it's going to be really entertaining for once.

Nope, for some reason the European release was before the US one.

Came out in Australia a week before the US, it's an amazing twist to see it released in PAL countries first. Even though Americans are way more hyped up about the film.
I was pretty confused when my friends in America were saying they're seeing the first screening tonight lol.
