So if you enter a karaoke contest, and sing 10 songs, you could get 5 years in jail? That's outrageous.

I live close to a pub, and after enduring week after week of drunken idiots murdering some classic songs, they should be locked up for 10 years at least. :)

The RIAA are mental. Rather than force people to pay for the songs they downloaded/reproduced (sold for profit) they'd rather people pay massive fines or jail time. The law surrounding copyrights are mental. Warner Music Group have a few times persued TV program's for the ''Unlawful use of'' Happy Birthday.

I find Weird Al's song puts it best.

Fuck the RIAA and even the MPAA. Corrupt fucks frequently fuck over small indie film makers.

    Funny story
When Trey Parker and Matt Stone made orgazmo they were a small group (Indie prettymuch) and given a NC-17 and when asked for advice on which cuts to make to get an R they were told ''We can't tell you that, that makes us a censorship group'' Fast forward 3 years to bigger longer uncut. The head of Paramount rings up because they AGAIN got an NC-17. He asked for advice and they gave him EXACT advice for what to cut to get an R.

another is the MPAA refused to even talk to New Line cinema besides getting their rating. The day after New Line were bought by a bigger group the MPAA began returning their calls.

Cyantist: the melody to Happy Birthday To You is from 1893, and should that song not be public domain by now ?

Or at least the melody ?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Birthday_to_You

But then again copyrights me here, and copyrights me there. It is no wonder any idea, I write down. I proclaim it from the start to an open source idea, inspired by both closed source, and open source. But ultimately any idea I get, I call dips on it to be open source and public domain hell even GNU. If it really needs some kind of license.

Also while we are at censorship, the American version of Kærlighed Ved Første hik("Love at First Hiccup")/"The First Time", got an 18 rating. Even though the Danish original never got anything other than around family rating or perhaps a little higher . Talking about being a bunch of prudes, it is no wonder I prefer a pair of tits, than a head being blown to pieces.

here is the Danish article about the shitty film.

    http://www.aok.dk/film/kaerlighed-ved-foerste-hik-for-fraek-for-usa

it says love at first hiccup being too naughty, when in reality it is not as naughty than the Danish version. Where you see a pair of tits uncensored. Now that is what I would call double standards.

Or what about Nightwatch with Nick Nolte vs. Nattevagten ?

    Part of the article says
So Warner actually can pursue this and it can work out in their favour.

Cyantist: it just shows how fucked up copyrights are. I seem to remember from the reddit friend, on person had this thought "walking to work, whistling a favourite tune and getting arrested because he "covered" that song".

Covering is absolutely legal. It falls into a fair use education grey area.

Yeah, but if it stands to RI/MPAA then that would be illegal too. I am not paranoid, but I just do not trust anybody with an "authority" .

Guys, before anyone asks me about it, then here goes. I do NOT agree with DPPs deal about "border control". Now it has been said, before anyone wants too take a knack at it and me.

I believe EU:s law on copyright is fair. 80 years after a person has died, his work is fair game.

Why 80 years? Basically so his children should be able to make a living of their father's work, but that's where they draw the line.

I fully support it. If that is Denmark's wishes, then so be it, they should have the liberty to do that if they want.

A friend of mine gave a Cuban cigar yesterday, I inhaled the entrie thing. 10 minutes later I started to feel sick, after a while I pucked my guts out.

I'll never smoke a cigar again.

First off you are not really supposed to inhale cigars. Second, Cuban cigars are endlessly counterfeited and not always filled with the safest stuff.

Unless it came from a truly reputable shop (or a govt sanctioned shop in Havana) chances were high that it was a fake.

Perhaps, if you are in the US, but anywhere else. You can get a genuine Cuban cigar. It is just an expensive cigar, and I have tasted quite a few good cigars over the years.

Christer-swe: you know how liberal (true meaning) I am. And I do NOT support any kind of racist shit, that DPP comes with , and also when Pia K came over to give support to the "Swedish Democrats"(the Swedish "sister Party" to DPP), who's top leader has said in the past. That he was a Nazi. Then DPP can go fuck themselves. I am a full blooded Dane, and when I hear Pia K or any of her henchmen speak, then I cringe, and I feel ashamed of being a Dane. Even though I love Denmark with all my heart. Cause that is NOT what I stand for. Or what I feel Denmark should stand for.
