Thanks, mate. Things are no longer fucked up. Sure, there's shit in my jobs, but I do what I love. And all the horrible fucking shit that happened made me, first of all, a fundamentalist atheist (Thank God for making me an Atheist, man), and second, the writer I am today. I would not have the academic discipline that got me through my years as a student, either, if I hadn't gone through that childhood.

I read the following quote at lowbrow many years ago, and I think it applies to you as well, mate.

"In the long run pain can bring strength. A sword cannot be strong without first being beaten and tempered. Sometimes he wonders if others would have traded all the parties and young love and good times for his strength, his spirit. Afterall, they planted the seeds for it.".

What happened to us made us who we are. Do not regret or reject anything. It cannot be changed.

    Also:

Some seven or eight years ago, I ran into one of my worst bullies (the best friend of the so-called "Christian" dude) - he was taking a class that I was taking at college. Since, after all, I dressed all in black and had black nailpolish and whatnot back then (and I was actually wearing a trenchcoat when I ran into the dude), he almost fucking pissed himself. I looked into his eyes and I could feel how terrified he was of the short, pudgy nerdy dude in black.

First I thought that, anyway. I thought that he believed I was going to shoot up the school. But no, he actually told me that we should talk in private, and apologised, sincerely, really sincerely, for what had happened years ago. It wasn't fear, it was actual guilt.

"I can't believe all the shit we did to you, man. I'm so, SO sorry."

We didn't become friends or anything, but we were cordial for the few months we had to interact in that class.

I'm almost certain he was sincere. But either that, or he was fucking terrified of me. And either one is satisfying as fuck.

Takes alot to forgive a person. I see him now and again working at McDonalds.

I probably wouldn't even look at him if he tried to apologise for being such a piece of shit. He set the ball rolling and since then I've never really been the same.

You are superior to him, Cyantist.

I mean, sure, it would be very, very satisfying to find the main bully and hang him with his own guts as he watches how he bleeds, then chokes to death - or cut off his dick with fishing wire and anally rape him with a sharp hook...

BUT just seeing that he works at fucking McDonalds while you are quite superior academically, that is enough satisfaction.

I don't even remember the name of the third grade bully, myself.

Fifth and Sixth grade, I do, mostly. But the third grade one is somehow missing from my databank. Nice.

I always knew I was superior to him. Even when I was in year 8 and him 11 I was probably more intelligent than him. The only thing he was superior at was basketball perhaps. He used to truant to play it and never ended up getting scouted or anything. All those hours he missed class really paid off now he's out of school and working at McDonalds with a nasty skank girlfriend who's equally as much of a piece of shit as him.

I find this puts it best:

While I'd never thank him for bullying me as much as he did. I think it will have definately made me better in the long run.

The Oslo bombing / Utøya massacre

I hope this isn't classed as a political discussion, hence my hesitation to create a thread.

My most sincere condolences go out to the people of Norway, especially the families of the victims.

I can't comprehend at all what drives someone to commit such a violent act. Perhaps you have to be as insane in order to understand it.

Came as a surprise to me as well. Defiantly not the sort of thing you'd expect in Norway.

Yeah, I am thinking about a female friend who lives in Norway, and how she is reacting to it. Cause when I heard about the terrible incident Friday, I became numb, and still feel that way. So to all the Norwegians, I feel for you.

Since I don't want to mess with alphagamers thread, then I just want to say. It makes me feel ashamed as a Dane, what Anders Breivik said in his praise about the current Danish government. And now the Danish media are saying, that the fucker trained/practised for this event when he played Modern Warfare 2, damn . Now Jack Thomson will have new fuel for the "debate" about violence in Video Games. Fuck me.

Fundamentalist Nazi Christian (i.e. Violent intolerant supremacist asshole) kills people.

    Blame Video Games.

    Conservative logic.

(though some "liberals" in many countries are just as bad in this sense)

Hasn't he been completely irrelevant ever since he was disbarred a few years ago?

Yeah, he was disbarred, but that will not stop the likes of him debating it.

A lot of my family are Norwegian and live in Oslo. They're not having a great time to say the least.

I was reading more in depth about what the guy did today. Horrendously brutal, maim shots followed by a shotgun to the head.

    Truly horrific.

Since in Norway the law says, you need to use hollow-point /dumdum bullets for big game hunting. Anders Breivik has gotten his hands on those bullets. People you know how I am against the death penalty, but I hope to God, that he will get life++ in either prison or a psychiatric ward. I know life in Norway is 21 years, but this fellow needs to get charged for everything in my mind. But this fellow deserves to get locked in, and the key needs to be thrown away.

So how exactly does killing almost 100 of your own people "preserve your culture"
I can kind of see where he was coming from right up until the I'm going to kill a shit ton of people part.

Terrible tragedy to say the least I've been watching a few things from Norway lately and it was on my list of places to vist. It still is.

My heart goes out to the Norwegians

It would appear that his fundamentalist Christian beliefs may have played a role in his decision making process. I'll leave it to whoever reads my post to draw their own conclusions.
