Well of course it's my opinion, didn't claim it to be a universal truth unlike some other folks or belief systems!

    Arguments, or else ;-)

But Christians nowadays don't kill unbelievers. Matbe in the past, but not unless theres an extremist running around.

Anyways, I don't think I'd like being Atheist. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who thinks this way. What would be the point of getting out of bed in the morning? If I were to die, that would be it. I don't like the idea of that, and if Religion is all a sham, I'd rather have hope for salvation than know when I die, I die for good.

Anyways, I don't think I'm going to make any more posts on this matter as I know its touchy and Atheists and Religious individuals duking it out would yield about the same results as any other religious groups trying to persuade the other into believing their religion.

My intentions aren't to change anyone's line of thinking, but I do enjoy the coversation =)

accepting death as the end of being who you are* is something you ll have to come to terms with eventually, and everyone else I m afraid.

Besides, as Queen put it, Who wants to live forever?

*where who you are is directly depending on your physical and complete brain functions as they stand now

Maybe not directly but look at their policies on condoms. You cant say their stance on such issues like that hasnt led to the unnecessary disease and death.

I don't like athiesm, but I guess I could subscribe to some of those beliefs. Right now I'm on a line between nothing and something, but the something isn't anything Christian.

Know whats fun? Growing up in a 90% Mormon community.

Speaking of Mormons, what do you guys think of that guy who married (forcefully) little girls and then raped them?

i think i heard about this. the girls were under the age of consent right? so they had to get permission from their parents. who i think allowed them to get married. is it still rape if they're married? this is quite a sensitive subject.

    In order:

Then go to an underdeveloped third world country or one in civil war and look around: how many atheist you see? or other religious minorities?. In many muslim countries the number of christian, jew and other religions members are at an historical all time low. Maybe the fact that while in the western world theres freedom of cult while in saudi arabia and others being christian or praying in any other religion but islam can land you in jail has something to with that. Dont try to simplify everything down to technological poverty, the reason why many of these countries dont develop is due to religious ignorance, which goes hand in hand with blatant state corruption and totalitarism.

Indeed, but you see, religions arent ethical: they preach only what is good for them, and if killing thousands or millions is good for the church/synagogue/mosque then as far as they're concerned it is good. Theres no part in the bible that says you cant leave millions without healthcare, retirement funds or jobs, but pick any ethics book and you'll see something about it.

You wouldnt believe the share number of commies, Che-wannabes I've heard yapping about their philosophy to the point they sound like members of the inquisition due to how ambivalent their moral is. While philosophy is good, most people tend to replace their religion with it, which in my opinion amounts to replace your car's tires with cheese. You cant replace one with the other because the very basis is completely different: religion is about submission and loyalty, philosophy is about freewill.

The whole "freewill" part of most religions is basically a patch to solve a problem in the code: why God killed my mother? why he gave me cancer? why he lets millions die horribly?. Everything good that happens in the world is a miracle from God, but everything bad is due to the freewill he lets us use. That and "the Lord works in mysterious ways" yeah right, is he stoned or what?

Like any interest group, religions only want what is good to them and the hell with the rest, so is no surprise that the world is so fucked'up thanks to them.

No doubt, but on the other hand kids are also brainwashed to accept pretty much everything from society, so its not only religion but the imperant economical order (be it capitalism, so.cia.li.sm or communism) the status quo, etc...Funny thing about the Nazis is that most people know so little about them (only that they're EVIL!*scary*) that a new hitler could rise to power and most of the population would not see the connection at all.

Magic is making a comeback, just look at all those wicka idiots, harry potter fans and new age wackos that drink their own urine. People dont want to know they're an eletrical signal traveling along a body made of carbon and hydrogen, they dont want to accept the fact that when their cells stop duplicating they'll get older, die and then dissapear. Thats why every single human wants to live in fantasyland.

Sounds like a good fella, except maybe for the whole "I'M RAPING YOUR MILKSHAKE!" part...

    Yes it is...

    My 2 cents...

    • If you want to believe there's a big God in the sky looking down on you, that's fine.
    • If you want to devote your life to worshipping this God, that's also fine.
    • If you want to believe I'm going to hell for not worshipping this God, that's fine.
Just please, don't annoy me with it all.

I'm going the cremation route. I decided that after reading somewhere that the brain still has electrical activity over a month after death. The thought of even the most minimal amount of consciousness after being stuck in the ground freaks me the fuck out.

anytime i doubt there's a god, i look at the stars and think about the universe, or examine the Bible. it's as simple as that for me.

Pretty gross to be honest. Though, I dont have a problem with polygamy at all, its just the FLDS isn't exactly helping their cause in anyway by raping young girls.

Religion is, to quote Karl Marx "the opium of the masses".

I just thought that I'd throw that out there.
