It's interesting that only one person has openly criticised Obama here. Pretty stark contrast with the shitstorm this time 4 years ago.

 

Well considering the make up of the site it doesn't suprise me at all. Which, by the way is a major reason I like Assembler. Like I said, I do hope he does good for the country. I just don't hold hope if he starts the far left(ist) crap. I don't want someone to kill him, because Biden could be much worse. This won't sit well with most of the site's members, but I'm a one issue voter and that issue is the gun rights. Both Obama and Biden are so antigun it's not funny and that's all I'll say on the issue.

During the campaign I never watched anything Obama or McCain said, not even commercials. I did however watch Obamas exceptance speach and thought it was good, hell even excellent. I hope he can do what he says and with a Democratic majority he should be able too.

 

Strangely enough, I mentioned some months ago the fear I had about Obama getting shot. But no one said shit back then, other than giving me shit. Jesus what a load of bollocks. It is just like when I had the thought about Resident Evil 5 and the racial undertone, then about a week later. there hell broke loose, what is it with people ? other than those who see things clear are getting their butts kicked. And when the person is correct, then he is not vindicated. Just because the guy is me, anyway I didn´t exactly criticise Obama , I just said. I like Hillary better, but hey . It is great that the democrats won. And maybe Americas image will become a little better after Obama comes to power.

You are pretty stupid, aren´t you ? the stories are 99 % accurate , not there are 99 truths and one falsehood. the last 1 % can be mistranslations of a single word, a missspellings which happens quite often lately which annoys me , just a bit. When there are digital versions of Danish dictionaries available. And I have more than one of those dictionaries on my PC. and the book version is over on my bookshelf. Because now adays you buy the dictionary and the CD at the same time. Anyway I believe it is said and done there.

Here is an example of how some folks in the US think. While talking about a civil war era (confederate) gun an older guy said, "Things would have been different if the confederate soliders had the governments backing." We said, "How so?" He replied, "Well, first off we wouldn't have what's running for president now." Here was my reaction h:, the guy was mid 60s if I had to guess. I've never witnessed this type of thinking in person, but of course I know it exists.

 

I think older people here are just racist. My own Grandma distrusts every person who isn't white, unless she kind of gets to know them. In some other countries, a person who isn't whatever the majority race is would have a hard time just trying to live. I don't know how bad a Chinese or Korean guy would have it in Japan, but you get my point.

Hey Alchy what is your nationality other than you are a British citizen ? Since I know I am banging my country, since I am proud of my country. Even though I also curse my country out a lot of times . But that is the duality of being aware of the flaws of one´s own country. But tell me what is your nationality ? since your name (real name) has always made me wonder, since shouldn´t your first name be Lyle if you were British in Descent ? or else please enlighten me about British English names.
And well I am probably the biggest mixup of cultures, I have East European genes, Gypsy genes and other foreign genes in me from different cultures from many cultures , it is practically only my grandmothers strong Scandinavian genes that does I have blond hair and blue eyes.

I had an interesting moment today at work. An older black lady I work with was pretty elated Obama won and kept making comments such as "Yeah! Now we rule the country!" etc. Pissed me off but I kept my mouth shut. I went over to the other black lady I work with and we both rolled our eyes in unison. What is wrong with people...

 

That reminds me of a moment at my job. I am a cashier, and as I'm ringing this guy out, he asks, "So, who are you voting for?"

"I'm going to be voting for Obama. What about you?"

"Well I can vote for a senile old man that's gonna pull the same shit as Bush, or I can vote for a nigger. I'm gonna go with the nigger!"

"Uhhh... Okay..."

I really didn't know how to react to that.

i just did a quick search. 3 pages of threads have the word "danish" in them... and this isn't a pastry/baking forum.

 

I even remember a time when GSL told us that WDK brings up Denmark and how people were "being mean" to him on another forum because of his views.

And that was probably two or three years ago! And very little has changed!

Its like WDK uses the forum just to talk about Denmark and rant on nothing and make off topic posts in every single thread.

As someone of mixed race, I've experienced racism first hand. True I've never had it as bad as most other minorities (because I can pass for a white person, like if you're walking by real fast and don't look right at me.)

I think the fact that a non-white has been elected as the President is a pretty big deal, seeing how a generation ago someone who looked like Obama couldn't eat in certain restaurants or use certain drinking fountains in the segregated parts of our country. That was how our parents grew up (well, my parents anyway.)

Anyone who thinks racism is over becasue of this though is fooling themselves, it's as prevalent as ever. The only reason I think Obama got elected was becasue the alternative - that old geezer and his pet Moosehunting clothing thief - were even worse.
