This noise is not regular wildlife sounds (like I say, I grew up out in the sticks in rural Wales so hearing animal calls is not something that bothers me). It's incredibly loud... don't know how to describe it, "shrieking" is about the best I can do. It's not owls (plenty familiar with that sound).

It's been happening since I arrived (early Dec) so hopefully oli's right and it'll end soon.

Not all owls go twit-twoo - Little Owls makes shrieking sounds, which is what I was referring too, though it is more likely to be foxes. Sure it isn't cats either? Used to have a problem with cats, shrieking and howling all hours of the night, bloody things.

I just checked out some small owl calls (http://www.wildowl.co.uk/littleowls.html) and it's definitely nothing like that. Much longer in duration, and more painful, somehow. I actually have some half-decent recording equipment so I might make a recording of it. It's one for the sound bank, to be sure.

Cats can create an incredible racket, it's true, but I know that sound. I appear to be free of that menace currently (I used to have a couple of semi-feral cats who'd fuck around screeching outside my window at uni, nothing worse than being woken up by that when hungover).

Just had the best phone call ever. It was an Indian sounding dude calling from some windows support company advising me or trying to advise me about a problem with my computer and virus i was meant to have.

I played along for a bit acting worried about it before eventually explaining that i am a microsoft certified desktop support technician , have qualifications in ict systems support and i am using my computer problem/virus free right now so actually there is nothing wrong.

I hung up after that before he could try and explain any more to me.

Been a long two weeks, my uncle was found dead by the police in his bathroom (apparently this is more common then you would think), both my kids and wife came down with a 102 fevers on the same night, they are finally getting better. Then last week we had a wind storm and I now need to put a new roof on my house which is ok because I just did all my taxes and I'm getting a refund but then last night my wife accidentally shut one of our cats tail in a door, nearly cutting it off, said cat freaked out and ran all around our house leaving a trail of blood everwhere which has now resulted in a $900 vet bill.

Honestly I'm just happy I can still put a smile on my face. Sometimes life really does just throws you lemons . . .

Sorry to hear about that. Shitty stuff seems to happen all at the same time.

In other news earlier I ordered a XFX Radeon 5770 and a 600w PSU

Was gonna order the Card on offer and a 500w psu but it came off offer and I when looking for the psu i found, found a 600w psu that in total (even with the increased price of the card and the deliver) worked out at £7 more and its a decent OCZ one!

    Ouch, crappy couple of weeks.

I can sympathize with your cat - trapped my finger in a car door as a kid, thankfully I was young enough for it to be pretty soft bone, but it was mangled for weeks after. And obviously hurt like hell.

Stayed off school to wait in and sign for my parcel today. Was gonna go in late but it literally came 1/2 an hour before school ended (Takes 20 minutes to walk there). Installed them with a tonne of trouble (Case was only just big enough. Don't even ask about cable management) But now its been working fine and suddenly my system runs l4d2 at 60fps constant (was 14 and below before because of onboard gfx) its also jumped from like a 2.0 on the Windows rating to a 5.9 (Bloody hard drive!)

I'll be damned! I didn't realise that was a birthday thing. Happy birthday mate.

(I saw "16th in x time" and assumed it was a marathon or something.)

Figure this would be a better spot to post this :

Hey guys, I am participating in an event on March 26th called St. Baldricks, taking place at a local firehouse. Basically, I am raising money to help fight children's cancer by shaving my head to show my support. My stated goal is 50$, but I'd really like to double that, so anyone that wants to help me reach that goal or go further can donate at this link:
    http://stbaldricks.org/participants/borman

Simply click Make a Donation, where you can either donate towards myself, towards our event, or towards the foundation itself. Last year, our local firehouse raised over $30,000, and we're hoping we can beat that this year. Thanks for taking a look :)

Yup welcome to America, land of the free and with freedom of speech and the right to pursuit of happiness . . . as long as it fits in the demographic of the old white extremely religious conservative americans . . .

Supposedly our government is separated from Church and State but we have not made it a right to have same sex marriage BECAUSE the majority of law makers (mostly republications but some democratics as well) says its against the Bible . . .
