*cough, cough* Also if the game is as good as the commercial I saw last night, I might have to pick it up.
Looks better than I expected. Art style is absolutely hideous, though. Almost looks like it was made with FPS Creator assets.
Another reason to get excited is the snapmap thingy: It looks a lot more robust than I originally thought.
How can anyone seriously compare this to call of duty crap. This game plays brilliantly and the more I see of the single player the more excited I am to get this gem.
http://www.ign.com/videos/2016/04/28/huge-doom-easter-egg-revealed Easily the coolest part. Once you find the hidden classic maps, you can play the original levels as if they were regular parts of the campaign. Thank you, id.
Hey, those single player segments don't look half bad, actually! Possibly a bit on the linear side, but you can't really tell, seeing how short they are. And I'm still not sold on the double-jumping. But the weapon balancing looks much better than in the MP beta, imho. Also - coop support in SnapMap? Does this mean the main campaign might also support coop? That'd be a major plus in my book.
Let's make a list of those who will be purchasing the game Day One. That way once we finish the campaign we can work on each other's SnapMaps and maybe get some multiplayer going. Please include platform. While maps made in SnapMap will be compatible across all 3 platforms, I'm not sure if you can cooperatively play them cross-platform and I know multiplayer is not cross-play. I'll start... MBMM - PC
Thanks airifle from reddit... Posted by Greg Punchatz (old school DOOM artist responsible for the sculptures that would become in-game demons) on Facebook: Fuck Yeah! I am tired of hearing people say this looks like HALO or its not DOOM enough. As one of the original artists who first help bring this game to life this looks like what I always dreamed DOOM could and should look and feel like. Congrats to the whole team at ID!! You guys did good.... cant wait to play it!
I have spent 30 minutes tweaking my setup so I can really enjoy this. Only spent about 5 minutes in the single player game so far, just got called out for a job on site... . The graphics are amazing, you can turn off health bar for boss and disable stuff like glory kill indicator (enemies flash when you can do it) to make it less cod-ish. I get 40 fps with a r9 285 overclocked and a 4.5ghz ivy bridge chip. Theme so far is very satanic and feels really immersive. If I had to summarise the general vibe it would be "YOU ARE GOING TO HELL AND ITS GOING TO HURT!!" really hope the game delivers. So uhhh, based on like 5 minutes of gameplay, I have a feeling its going to be good!! Just make sure you have a decent pc..
Fair point, I am terrible at fps with ps4/xbox controllers and I cant live without higher FOV for FPS games so I am stuck with PC for that genre.
Yeah I remember hating on the mouse because I was a FPS keyboarder in Doom, Quake, Duke3D etc and also looked down on consoles and controllers at the time. I'll have to dig up my old keyboard bindings. But now I mostly use consoles and controllers for FPS.
VERY GPU based. Certain settings can only be utilized if you have over 5gbs of VRAM. I was worried about my CPU, but luckily not so much anymore. Did you max out the settings?
