Thinking about trading in an Xbox

Yessir. I have 2 PS2's ATM. One is broken though, got it for $10 :smt042 .

and get the old style ps2 just to be able to put an hdd in it, and to use the now dinosaur-like (but still pretty handy sometimes) I-link.

 

Yes PS2 has a lot of games but if you seperate the good from the bad that list gets real small, I can never seem to finish PS2 games, I don't know if its my hate for Sony or what. I get bored with them real fast.

There is an old saying that if you throw enough shit at a wall something is bound to stick.

Maybe its because Sony are nothing more then money sucking assholes, look at what they did to SquareSoft with FF online and no support for the harddrive.
They don't want to loose all the money they are making on their memory cards.

[IMO]If you want a complete gaming experience, buy everything. I have all 3 of the next gen systems, and really want to get a Dreamcast. Lets not get fanboyish here, guys. Almost every system I can think of (with a decent sized library) has a game thats appealing to me and is fun. I like Rpgs a lot, so I have a lot of RPG gaming systems, and want even more. Saying system A is better than system B is just childish ignorance, imo. Even if system A's graphics are so much better than B's and whatnot. I frankly couldnt give a shit about graphics. Its all about gameplay, and most systems have fun games, 2d or 3d, and vice versa.[IMO]

And are you guys not listening? VGM currently has TWO xboxes and already has a PS2! If he sells the xbox, he's still going to HAVE AN XBOX!

 

That's what I am saying. Some just told me to get an old style PS2, he obviously doesn't know that I have 2 already.

 

my opinion: keep the xbox
i have 4 xboxes, a PS2 and GC and the xbox is still the system i play the most. it has better GFX and sound than the PS2. i only use the PS2 for exclusive games (San Andreas, Final Fantsy...)

and a modded xbox is a thing of beauty. i'm not talking about pirating games though. think of XBMC (xbox media center), emulators, linux and all the other wonderful things you can do. the extra computing power is also a plus. on top of that, the slim PS2 has had lots of problems with the lasers on top of that. it's fixable but still a hassle.

on the other hand, you alredy have 2 xboxes but that still wouldn't change anything in my book

I know some guy who mod's and fixes PS2s. He hates the newer ones (V10 and higher I think) basically because they're just built like shit compared to the earlier ones (before about 2003 they were built in Japan, not China). Also due to some flaw in the design of the newer ones, they tend to give the laser too much power if it has problems reading (e.g. scratched discs, DVD-Rs), leading them to burn out easily.

Slim PS2s are fine. Don't believe the folks who say they are shit; they are mis-informed.

Both systems have their merits, no doubt. I have two Xboxes, but I want more. Can never have enough of those...system link is the shit, and the stuff you can do with two, or three...the system is pretty damn cool.

But the PS2 has gotten a lot of awesome exclusives recently, in particular Gran Turismo 4 and God of War. And for those, I say: go for it.

Oh, and you can try to return the brand new Xbox to Toys 'R Us. With persuading, they'll accept anything for return, even without any proof that you actually bought the thing at their store.

 

Already traded it in. Friend works at BestBuy.

Yeah I know people always say things about systems but I'm just keeping an eye out to see some stuff that is being said about it.

Reminds me of Xboxes catching fire and Microsoft sending out those cords. I've never had a problem with my xbox. The only next gen system that ever broke on me was my gamecube but that's cause I lost grip of the bag it was in and dropped it :smt083

However, one of my friend's xbox controllers started smoking while I was using it. Scared the shit outta me.

 

Oh God, not this again! Just because you've had good experience with your new PS2 means nothing. I'm there's people who've owned DeLoreans that didn't fall apart or leak either, but just because they haven't had problems doesn't make their experience more valid than everyone else's.

My friend mod's PS2s as a pastime pretty much, so he's seen loads of them. And he's had to fix a lot of them too. Not necessarily just the new models, but he's told me several times how the lasers burn out too easily compared to the older ones.

 

...Hmmmm DeLoreans are very dodgy when they get to 88mph if I remember correctly :0
