Yeah like Borman said, they have captured a LOT of the site. I checked it the first day this thread was made and it had well over 600 captures of the site going back to 2004 up to recently. So a lot should be saved which is public, but maybe not every single page of every thread.

@Borman where are you gonna go to? I know you have done a lot in the Xbox community, I am over at emuextras which has quite a few other Xbox gamers from here. They mostly focus on OG Xbox but have a lot of other sections for pretty much all other consoles too. For PlayStation stuff I am pretty much over at PSX-Place and for Dreamcast stuff I am at Dreamcast-Talk and DCEmulation. Also obviously Reddit has subreddit's I am a member of for those consoles too.

You also can't just carry on where he left off. The rip won't function as a forum, there's no code or database backend. Only the static content you see

Been a long ass time since I spoke up and this whole thing is sickening.

I don't care about the reasons or who is on what side. I don't even know now if this is a legit closure or some bullshit thing going on. Frankly I could care less. The way I see it is things are completely FUCKED up. You all need to calm down and chill out. Kevin, if by chance you see this, it looks like most here hate you, I don't care about what happened. I don't give a shit. Just don't punish us for whatever happened. Yes we know you have serious health issues. Guess what? So do I. I still do my best get shit done. So can you. If you cannot handle running this place then listen to the community. Hand the key over and let someone more capable run this place.

I have seen many here say to let Bad_Ad84 take over. Despite my issues with him in the past, he would be perfect. I don't care about what happened. Don't let this place die because of some petty level bullshit. That's all it is. Petty fucking bullshit. I don't know the story and could care less. Fix the issue and get over it. Don't let the original place for research and prototypes go to ruin because of some STUPID event.

I don't know all the details, but I'm inclined to believe what people are saying about Kevin based on the fact that he'd rather throw away 23 years of preservation history than pass the torch to someone else. Way to destroy an entire community because of your ego.

Great! Even if we only have it in text, we can at least access/provide info that is now saved.
So, are we in theory ready to move on?

A lot of offers are up for the taking, so if Kevin isn't shutting his eyes completely he will see them and it's up to him if he want to sell.
As of right now we should probably cover our own ends regarding uploaded media, conversations etc.

I hope we can move past Kevin's actions as a subject soon, as it makes for a bad moodsetter, what's done is done and he's not really here anymore. Looking back in a couple years time we should be happy this place even existed for this long.
A fresh start will give us the oppertunity to build a more dynamic ground for those who run the forums.

 

Demon has a several backups of AG. He has also purchased a suitable domain to host the static backup. People can then link to pages from the OG forums etc.

The info here is basically a non issue now. as its backed up and will be hosted.

Although, info is great, community is better. There are lots of old members, older than me in all senses, who don't visit that often now, so may not even see all this. I mean, how many pre-2010 members have commented here...very few...and they were the bedrock of this place (and predecessors) likely before some people here even knew what a devkit was.

So I hope the forum can be saved.

My vote would go to bad_ad, or familyguy or buyatari if the forum can be saved (I believe they have all expressed a desire to help in some way in this thread...too lazy to sift through all the drivel I'm afraid...Diablodin, you speak much sense). Don't really know them from Adam, but know of them as do we all, and couldn't ask for a better helm than any of them.

Oh I know, but having the info's from here backed up at least to multiple places is a great thing so we don't loose a lot of the invaluable info posted here over the years. A lot of the Dreamcast development stuff is documented mainly here and can't be readily found on other sites that have also went down like this one is about to.
