Yeah, he is. He provided a bunch of machines for the Game Masters exhibit at ACMI last year.

Aha, then he very likely owns a few pinball tables that I pulled from containers and fixed up. If yer in Melbourne and you want a good pinnie, go see Oscar :)

That's one thing that bothers me about collectors (even though I am a collector myself!) is that many of them don't have an end game for their collection & setup. I find this more with collectors who are more hoarders rather than gamers (most are mashers).

Do you have a "final stage" for your own collection? I have some sort of vision for when I "finish" my collection, but that stage is so far away financially and space-wise that it will probably take the longer half of my life until I complete it, if at all.

I definitely do. From a hardware/setup perspective, it's already nearly complete. I have all of the machines (consoles, portables, PCs, monitors) and done most of the AV mods for RGB, digital audio, etc. I would like to revisit my hardware shelving to make it a bit more future proof but can't complain with what I have.

For software, my arcade collection is nearly complete, there are maybe 50 boards left that I am looking for with many of them being protos. I've finished most of my consoles, the ones with gaps are only a handful of games each.

Space, the eternal enemy of all collectors, is something I'm still working on especially in this country but I have an idea on what to do about it.

I see your point, but I mean to most people, we are just hoarders. lol.

That new cinema room he set up is way too small and looks pathetic, especially for the cash he apparently has. I think turning a really nice cinema room into a room for very common (non rare) pinball machines is terrible. I know this is a gaming forum but if your going to have that much money and that nice a projection screen, set it up right. I think I commented a few months back where he had his cinema stuff thrown in a pile in some room.

I agree...my preference isn't even to do projection. His AV stuff is all rather poor with a huge lack of RGB.

That's a stunning collection of dedicated arcade cabs! But a JarJar Binks lifesize statue... that ruins everything :p

Lots of nice cabs, hardly a PCB collection though.

And I think turning a very common cinema room into a room for pinball tables is awesome!

Although to be fair, none of the tables I've seen in the videos could be described as 'rare', but then again I wouldn't call them common. With pinball tables, rarity is not an indication of value.

For example, The Addams Family is a well sought after table that a lot of people want, holds a very strong price yet they made ~27,000 units, more than any other pinball table of the modern era. Compare that to something like Frankenstein, which has a production run of around 3,000 units, which makes it more rare but generally sells for far less.

It boils down to the fact that these are coin operated machines and were bought by operators to generate money. If the game was good fun and sucked in a lot of money, then operators would buy more of that table. Same goes with the opposite, if the table sucked and didn't generate much money, then no one bought them to operate and hence there are very low production numbers. Sometimes that rule doesn't apply, especially to the late 90's Williams games as even though they are regarded as some of the best games ever made, pinball was in a massive decline so not many were produced.

    That Tetris is fake.
The question is, he knows it?
And how much has been paid for it?

If I was that guy I'd also have an insane Star Wars collection displayed in a room that looks like a star destroyer bridge.
