This is just ****ed up. I jut got my 360 in yesterday from japan. Well I had 2 games purchased so far. Ridge Racer 6 & Quake 4. Well after hooking everything up, I gave Ridge Racer 6 a boot. I get an error saying "Can't read disc. Disc is either dirty or not compatible." WTF? I boot my quake 4 disc. Sucess, it boots up and gets to the main menu just fine. Ok so what is my rr6 disc broken? Well I took it back to eb and got it swapped for a brand new copy. I come into work this morning. I boot the disc and.... Same error message above. I try my quake 4 bonus disc. Same message as above (WTF?). I try out my main quake 4 disc. Boots like a charm (even started up single player and it looks freaking great on a standard tv). So WTF. Ridge racer 6 is heavly confirmed to work on any region (including freaking pal). On top of it my friend online who also bought a japenese 360 (and from the same damn import shop) & his 360 boots up a friends copy of Ridge Racer 6 just fine. So wtf? Is there 2 damn prints of ridge racer 6? My copy is the shity Canadian version which is a sealed copy of the USA version & a french manual shrink rapped together. There is no other difference at all. Oh one more WTF. I had a burn of Ninja Gaiden sitting around (left by my ex roommate). Curiously I popped it into my 360 this morning and the game starts to boot but then gives me a "not compaible at this time" message. Could it be posible that burns of BC games run on the 360? Oooppps MS.
Maybe you have a faulty 360, wouldnt put it past me with all the problems they have been having. Atlest be thankful yours didnt eat your disc like many others. You can return the unit, or call MS and they will send you a pre-paid postage box. As back-up xbox games go, Im pretty sure that is something that MS looked at, and it wouldnt be as simple as a CDR, or DVD copy pop it into the machine and it works.
Well lets not all forget my 360 is japanese, not american. Oh also the NJ burn it reconises as an xbox game. It seems odd they would not block it sooner and not at the screen saying "not compatible atm"
The canadian versions of games come from the same lot numbers as the american versions. Like you said, they just throw that extra booklet on there with the french text. There shouldn't be any difference.

Someone should do some more research & also read my damn post!! FFXI Demo, Avalibility, Asian Releases next year (which are usualy cheaper), Jpn game prices drop much sooner then american (about mid next year play-asia will probably be trying to sell games like pdz for $20-$30 a pop), Most american xbox games were region free (unlike pretty much all JPN games). and more along thoes lines.
Yes & no. 360 games (much like xbox games) are only region locked if the publisher request it. A large majority of xbox games were left unlocked. The same has happen for 3rd party released 360 games. ridge racer 6 & all activision games have been confirmed working. For me quake 4 works fine (minus the bonus disc) yet ridge racer 6 is not. I belive maybe canada got its print from a different set then a majority of usa. The reason I state that is because a friend (like i posted) got a japanese 360 as well. He ran a friends ridge racer 6 just fine on his unit a day ago. So I got to somehow get my canadian disc swapped for a USA disc. To me, I dont mind having a japanese xbox. It just sucks ridge racer 6 is not working for me. Its the main reason I got a 360. I might just give up and buy the japanese version soon.
can't he is in the states. I am in montreal. Actualy going to hit up Blockbuster this weekend and see if they more have a usa version (just look and see if it has any french manual with it), If it does i'll rent and see if it works.

I got the core x-box 360 USA version the system work 100% you have the 360 Premium Pack I think the all 360 Premium Pack has problems
The US version or NTSC u version of RR6 does not work on the Japanese console's, it only works on the pal consoles as far as I know. I know off several people who have tried this , including Play Asia, so I think that I am right. I also have the jap machine, it just came in from Lik Sang today, and my jp copy of rr6 is in full english if I set the machine to English and so is PDZ as well, so it would not hurt to just buy the jap version.
Actualy that is untrue because Play-asia confirmed it does work. On top of it so has my friend. It is my personal opinion that there are 2 prints of RR6 out there on the usa market. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-17-74-yu.html
