Alot of us are over 30 here, YES that includes me despite the fact I'm batshit crazy.

So here's what happend, 23 or so years ago my Grandmother bought me Mega Man 2. I've been playing and rebuying it in various forms over the last two decades.

Last night even with a right side headahce (the ones that tend to linger) I tired beasting through Rockman 2 which I had downloaded on PSN. YEAH...
Not quite I died more than I would like to say for somebody so experienced. Heat Man's stage never gave me much trouble until today. BUT I made it through. My hang up was in Quick Man's stage. THOSE DAMN BEAMS even after 20+ years of playing Mega Man 2 I STILL have trouble with the Quick Man Beams. Time stopper or not I just cannot traverse through those damned beams and it's ALWAYS my lone hang up. Wily's Castle I know my way around. All the other stages
But Quick Man's stage. I ALWAYS have trouble. I have made it through before yes, but not this play through.

So for the rest of you Old timers where do you get stuck?

Really? Well if it makes you feel any better, you don't act a day over 4. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I haven't reached the 30 year mark yet, but I remember playing games 18ish years ago that I continue to play to this day. For example, I got Earthworm Jim 2 when it came out in '95. It's one of those games that I have to do a full playthrough at least a few times a year, and I've done that for about as long as I've had the game. I still have the original Genesis cart I had as a kid, and I also have the SNES version now. Anyway, I'm pretty good at that game since I've played it about a million times, but there are still a few parts that are a little difficult for me. Especially the last level: "Run, Jim, Run!" That game is pretty challenging, but so fun, and really funny.

Another one is Vectorman, which was also released in '95, but I actually kinda suck at that game. I've played the first few levels enough times to know what I'm doing, but I have difficulty when I get to the rolling robot guy in the Bamboo Mill level. I can never seem to avoid his attacks, and I die before I can do any damage. I've watched videos of people playing that level, and I think I know what to do now, so I just need to give it another shot. My dad insists that I beat that game pretty soon after I got it, but as an adult I can't seem to do it. Maybe I just got lucky. :p

I still have the original box for Vectorman too. I was just thinking how cool it would be to have a sealed copy... maybe...

I'm not over 30 either, but I usually can't get past Labyrinth Zone in Sonic 1.

I do Ok in Sonic 1, Sonic 2 is a game I have 90% memorized, but that last Zone Sky Fortress is where I have trouble. Sonic and Mega Man for me have that common thread, Besides both being blue and awesome and defining of me growing up. Where, I'll have most of a game memorized but there will be areas I get hung up on. Sonic 3 and knuckles for example, Sandolplus Zone 2.

Eh, I deserve it. Gaming forums seem to bring out the worst in me.

I still have trouble getting through the final special stage of Sonic 2. I had trouble beating it 17 to 18 years ago and it still kicks my ass to this day. I'm only 23 but I got started on Sega stuff at an early age.

I usually use a cheat of some kind. :highly_amused:

I'm 27 and have always got stock at the end of some carnival stage in either Sonic 3 or Sonic And Knuckles. Like the level just...stops.

You have no idea how many years me and grandma spent stuck on that when we did tag team playing. She was the first to figure it out. I think it was late 1996 when we found the secret. We were jumping for joy all over the room when this happened. Grandfather was not amused...

My Grandma used to feed me tokens then go sleep in the pole position II machine until I needed more money for tokens. Never did game with Grandma. She was also there
when I beat Mega Man 3 the first time.

I'm not 30 but I started playing NES games obsessivly well before I was 4. Parts in games that 20 years later still fuck me up...Skyworld on SMB3.

Yeah, I tried up and down on that barrel, but I think I tried jumping repeatedly. That was my problem.

For those who haven't had the pleasure of seeing this horror, skip to 7mins, 20 seconds (or you can watch the whole level up to that point).

Well I did it I got to Quick man and beat him.

They tell you to use the time stopper but his real weakness is Crash Bombs.

Fuck Skyworld man, I know exactly how it is.

To this day, I still have trouble with Metroid 2: Return of Samus for the Game Boy. There is no specific part in the game, it's the entire game in general. I played the fuck out of Metroid and Super Metroid and beat both of them; however Return of Samus makes me feel like a rat in a maze because everything looks the same. Pathetic, yes but i have never beaten it to this day.

Battletoads.... level 3 turbo tunnel... I hate that effing jump with a passion. I have only cleared it a handful of times only to die immediately after because I ran out of lives trying to clear it. The money I wasted renting that game in the early 90's is staggering. I even tried recently on an emulator and never experienced such an overwhelming urge to rage quit before.

Bart Vs The World. My contempt for sliding puzzles in video games began here. The hated became so deep seeded that I almost shelved RE4 when I found out I had to solve one to escape from an axe wielding suit of armor.

Lack of color is why I never bothered to tackle it. With the DX release it would've been playable.

Vectorman is an issue for me too and I've known how to handle that same stage but only rarely have I gotten past it. I've got a few other titles that stopped me dead back in the day and I never tried again. Maybe one of these days.

Still four years away from turning 30, but the Eagle's Tower dungeon in Zelda: Link's Awakening confuses the hell out of me to this day. You have to destroy four pillars in there using a big steel ball, to collapse one floor into the one underneath it, so that you can access further rooms and the dungeon's boss. Getting to those pillars, with the steel ball, is what's so damn annoying about this - the dungeon layout in general is confusing, there's loads of the switch-triggered raising/lowering blocks blocking rooms and corridors, etc. I can get past this and have finished the game before, but from here on it takes ages for me to reach the ending...

So, whenever I play the game and make it here, I play the dungeon up to getting the Mirror Shield, then go to the next (and final) dungeon and finish that first. Allows me to avoid Eagle's Tower for a bit longer, and gives me the Magic Rod from the final dungeon, which is super-effective against the Eagle's Tower's boss.
