You see, thats where mine would be going, and all this talk of overheating, I wouldn't want my PS2 to get damaged either... I'm tempted to get a 360, but is it worth the risk? I know the360 would get replaced if I were to get a warranty, but I don't fancy buying another console for whatever its laid on top of.
I'm on my eighth system. I got a different system back every time and they all died. Interesting note for collector's; my first system was an Every 10 Minutes console and it was slightly different than the versions out now. I noticed it immediately after getting my second system from MS. The faceplate was a different revision and the led light traveled through a little plastic tube like in DCs and GCNs. There wasn't a white thing over where the led circle is on the front of the system. I don't remember much because it's been a while. And I didn't take it apart so I'm not sure of any internal changes. I have a friend online that also won one from Every 10 Minutes and his system doesn't have any of those differences. So there was a slightly different revision of the 360 out for a few days.
Eigth system :banghead: man I would be frustrated as hell!!! I'm still on my first 360 no problem to report, I wonder if some regions have been sacrified like the US for the benefit of others... It seems they had careless attention at yield. Really sad, it such a great system. SAbre
Well, the Red Ring of death 360 I opened and literally just cleaned is now onto it's second week of almost constant use and it hasn't given me a single problem since. I decided to just keep playing DiRT on it for a fortnight (about 5hrs a time) over 4 days a week so thus far roughly 40hrs worth of usage and not a glitch.
I just has to move mine from the wall as the heat is buggering up the paint. Shall i run a book on how long till its dies?
I dont think so, theres this spanish forum I go sometimes (great DIY guides, thats why) and they say the X360 failure rate is the same over there in europe and even latin america too. Theres no word from japan, maybe cuz there no X360 users there:lol:
It really works? I thought it was a joke at Something Awful:lol: And a towel killed my father, show some respect! Kickass!
It works, but only until the warp begins again. So I now intend to take the second step towards enlightened 360 gaming and remove the x-clamps. However, I also intend to replace the clamps with something else (unlike 1 rather unwise member of Xbox-scene who removed them and didn't think to find an alternative - oops!)
I just dished out for the extended warranty, so mine will probably be the most reliable console in the world!
If not the most reliable, at least the most replaced without the most financial pain. I salute you! If only I had taken such extended warranties - damn my moth eaten wallet.
or it's just a result of the US corporate culture that gives contracts out to the lowest bidders. It's the sad trade off between low cost electronics and quality. MS even had to mail out free power cords for the first xbox to keep them from setting your house on fire and killing you in your sleep. The horrible thing about it though, is that the red ring of death is just one problem of many. I've never got the red ring, but my 360 still freezes up all the damn time. When it does work, I get dirty disk errors. So the DVD drive is as shitty as the rest of the 360. Then there's the guy with 11 defective 360's, which had a wide range of troubles. At least Best Buy lets you swap them out as fast as you can bring them in.
I wouldnt put all the blame on that since from a company point of view it was a good decision after they lost 4 billion with the last Xbox. And from the government side of things, public bids are the best way to avoid corruption, but its not flawless either...
